Hi L., I know how you feel, it seems to take forever to find new friends when you're a sahm! I also have been in Belleville 3 years now. I am a sahm of a 2 1/2 yr old and an 11 month old. My hubby is Air Force. I do belong to a spouses group that has playdates. Even if you are not military I could bring you to one to meet some people. We could also just get together ourselves. I'm always up for that. Email me at ____@____.com if you are interested and we'll talk further!

Belleville Parks and Recreation Center has activities for babies, and preschoolers/toddlers. The Tots class is usually a combination of structured and unstructured activities so you get a chance to talk to other moms while keeping an eye on your child. They also have a nice part time low class size preschool if you are looking for that in the fall. Their programs are open to anyone regardless of residency. If you are in the Belleville Public School District they have a playgroup that meets during the school year as part of their Parents as Teachers program. For the last couple of years it has been on Wednesday mornings. They also organize field trips. Some of the other school districts do similar things. I have also met other parents after some of the library programs. Both Belleville and Mascoutah public libraries have nice reading programs during the school year. Mascoutah might also have some rec programs. My friend told me they used to have a playgroup at their rec center.

Good luck,

J.

Hi, L., I know how you feel. I have lived in my home for 4 years. When I first moved here I tried to find a group and it was hard. Even though we had lived here before and I went to school here it was hard. There are MOPS groups (Mothers Of Preschoolers), Moms and More, and something called AWANA, but I don't know what it is. Some groups cost money, some do day activities and some have evening get togethers as well without the kids. Some require a certain number of outings. You could check with local churches. One group called Circle of Friends used to meet at the YMCA over by SWIC, but I'm not sure if they still do. They have a membership fee. There were a spin off of the MomsClub.

I'd love to meet with you sometime at a park and have the kids play. You can never have too many friends. I have a year old boy and a 4 year old girl. E-mail if you want to get together.
