I know it's a little late, and hopefully you've already found a pediatrician you like, but I wanted to offer my help, just in case. My son and my nephew both go to UMDNJ on Fries Mill Rd. I know someone had suggested them also, and I wanted to reinforce that suggestion. We've always had a great experience there with all the doctors and staff. They always listen and care. We had a very bad pediatrician when my son was a baby (Dr. Dahodwala in Hammonton -just in case anyone needs warning). Thank God, my son never had any major problems, but as a first-time Mom, I expected so much more from a pediatrician. She never asked me any questions about him, his eating, his anything! She didn't even ask me if I had any questions. She didn't seem to care and actually misdiagnosed him. Thank God, he was just about to turn 2 at the time, and I switched him (on his birthday) to my family doctor who wouldn't take him until he was 2 years old. (I had to switch him to my nephew's pediatrician (UMDNJ) when they stopped treating children under 6, and we had moved to Newfield). Dr. Dahodwala tried to tell me that my son had the croupe because of his cough, but his cough sounded to me like his normal congestion cough. So, I skeptically got the prescription and refused to give it to him after reading the information and warnings on it. It was a type of steroid and the info was quite scary. So, I went to the office on his birthday to have his files transferred, and was given a hard time by her office person, who had always talked down to me (very ignorant!). She was annoyed by my request and that it also meant I wanted to cancel the follow-up appointment they had made him because of the strong medication they wanted him to take, and she said that I would have to pay to have the files copied and stuff. I was thinking, "Whatever it takes to get me out of this place," and pulled out my check book right away. Sorry, to have gone into all this info you probably don't need, but I guess I feel an obligation to warn people whenever possible. I hope you find the right place for your son (and your new baby, hopefully, in the near future)!
