Looking for OB/GYN in South Shore or Boston Area

Hi, there,

I live in Bridgewater, MA and will be moving to Milton soon. I had both of my children on the Cape (even while living in Bridgewater) because I really liked my doctors there and they knew my history (I was living on the Cape with my first which is how I ended up with those doctors to begin with). We are planning to have one more soon and I'm thinking it's time to find a doctor who is closer PLUS my main doctor is now no longer delivering babies.

I am looking for an all female practice (OB/GYNs or midwives) if at all possible. (I realize that sometimes you can end up with a different doctor once you're at the hospital, but if I can avoid a male practitioner, I'd prefer that.) I would also prefer a practice that does their Level II ultrasounds at Brigham and Women's Hospital (or at least will allow it) as that's where I've had the others done. (I have a history there as my first was born with a birth defect that was detected and followed at that Hospital).

Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

I,too, and from B'water. I used South Shore Midwifery. Their office is inthe bldg across from the hospital as well as in Hanover.
They deliver in South Shore Hosital. We have been there and really were happy with the hospital. I love my mid-wife and the grp was referred to me from happy parents.

The OB is a male but the mid wives are all women. I needed the OB as I had a c-section (1st not planned and second planned). Otherwise the women were with me the whole time I was in labor with our first.

It was a very supportive group.

They also have a website. You can search online for South Shore Midwifery.

Hi Jamey
Nice to see a 'neighbor' on line.. I too live in Bridgewater.
I had all three of my children delivered through Hanover OBGYN at South Shore Hospital. They have a midwife in the practice as well if you prefer.
Good luck in your move to Milton!

I can HIGHLY recommend the practice I use. New England OBGYN in Brookline ###-###-#### (right off Route 9) I drive from Norton but its worth it. Have to call early for annual exam appointments but if your pregnant appointments are no problem to schedule. Its an all female practice 7 doctors. You deliver at Brigham and they do the Level II as well as an early ultrasound to look at neck thickening which is an indication of downs. I use Doctor Lisa Lampert and LOVE her I have several friends who also go to this practice on uses Dr. Gonsalves and the other Dr. Vincent all good. When your pregnant you will do at least one rotation with each doctor so you are familiar with her is she is on call the day you deliver. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH about this practice I had complications with both boys and happy to say both are completely healty and happy now. good luck.

Hello Jamey-
I used to go to the best place...all women and very caring people. Excellent dr's. South Shore Women's Health...Weymouth, ma. They have a couple different locations, but i think Weymouth is probably closest to you. I had some problems with some pregnancies and then getting pregnant and they were wonderful. I will say, that I dont know about going into The Brigham...you will have to ask them, but i can tell you that South Shore Hospital now is is affiliated with all the major hospitals in Boston....(their dr's and such come to SSH.)
Anyway- I hope this is helpful to you. Best of luck,
H.

I worked with Dr. Dever of South Shore Women's Health. They have all female OBs and midwives (1 male doctor occasionally covers at the hospital). Dr. Dever was primarily based in their Whitman office. I had many difficulties with getting pregnant and staying pregnant and she was a godsend. They deliver at South Shore Hospital, which also has a high-level NICU just in case of problems.
