Hi my son just turned 2 and I am looking for different breakfast foods to give him. Right now I give him yogart, mixed fruit (oranges, apples, pears, pineapple) just about every day, sometimes a banana he eats hot & cold cereal and at times he will egg's, pancakes & french toast. Can anyone suggest anything diffrent to try on him?

What can I do next?

My daughter loves cottage cheese with pear sauce, and a fluffy scrambled egg in bite sized pieces(The more you beat it the fluffier.) I am starting to give her ricotta cheese because it has much less salt than cottage, and you can mix it with anything. Oatmeal and maple syrup

That sounds pretty varied. As far as I am concerned,
whatever they want. If he loves spaghetti and wants
it for breakfast, that's OK. Breakfast does not necessarily have to be "breakfast" foods.

It sounds like he eats well. I do put flax seed (looks like wheat germ) in the pancake & waffle batter I use. The extra fiber is good and flax seed has GREAT benefits. I also make this pancake in the over called Puff Baby. 2 eggs, 1/2 c. flour, 1/2 c. milk, Put 4 tbls melted butter in a pie plate (I cut it down to 3 tbls), pour the batter in the pie plate, cook at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. The sides will get really high & puffy. Sprinkle some powder sugar and lemon juice on top & serve. I leave the lemon juice off for the kids but put it on mine. Enjoy!

Laura posted recently about bkfst foods for one yo and got some great responses -- you should check out all of the suggestions there! I also give my kids berries, raisin cinnamon toast, veggie or turkey sausage. They are really crazy about muffins, so I make or buy different kinds of muffins.

how about mini waffles - earths best makes plain and blueberry. Mini muffins are a nice choice too - you could easily make some more nutritional options. Does you son like blueberries? My 22 month old loves them so the pancakes, muffins, waffles are all blueberry.

My kids loved cinnamon toast, bagels with cream cheese, scrambled eggs with turkey bacon, english muffins. Blueberries and strawberries are good as well. Good luck!!

Aside from what's already listed...my son is 2 and loves anything with cream cheese on it. He also loves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for breakfast. We do a "puffy pancake" too, (oven popover) and the kids LOVE it and it even comes out great with soy milk and vegan butter (my kids are allergic to dairy). You could sprinkle cinnamon sugar on it too...a favorite of mine. On the go, we'll do muffins (I make banana muffins, can send you recipe) or a kashi breakfast bar (way less sugar than nutri-grain, also does not contain dairy). Have fun! I loved reading all the ideas.

I introduced oatmeal with bananas at 2 years old and he loved it. he's now four years and will it that instead of dinner sometimes. Also I boiled an egg and a potato with a little bit of butter(smart balance)leaving little bits.

Hi there! You could try cottage cheese to see if he likes it. Add fruit too! Make a yogurt smoothie in the blender with all sorts of frozen fruit and the wheat germ or flax seed too:)

We were told by a nutritionist that since breakfast is generally the best meal for little ones, you should take advantage of that appetite and give dinner foods at breakfast time. (It's fun to have breakfast food for dinner sometimes, so why not try the opposite once in a while.) She also suggested making things like breakfast pizzas or burritos with ham, eggs, and cheese.
good luck

I think you're doing great- yum! Add in other fruit- melon, berries, etc. Also, my son loves cottage cheese and whole grain waffles (pour yogurt over it- tasty!).

But it sounds like your little guy is eating great to me!

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, mostly because it is the easiest! My kid loves ALL breakfast foods. Have you tried bagels and cream cheese? You can get veggie cream cheese and wheat bagels (our personal favorite). We also love making toads in a hole. I cut out a "hole" in the middle of a piece toast and put a fried egg in the hole. My son loves it. If I'm feeling really creative, I cut up some strawberries for frog eyes and a mouth. We also love having bananas and peanut butter. Yummy. Have fun!
