Ok so my husband and I have now been trying to get pregnant for 16 months with no luck. I have had 2 pregnancys before so it shouldn't be a problem. I've tried everything from charting, ovulation test, all the old wives tales, anything I can think of. Still no luck. My Dr is a natural family planning Dr and has only offered a referal to a specialist, I don't know that we're ready to go that route yet.
So I was wondering if anyone out there has heard of Author Beth Kiley who wrote a book called Personal Path to Pregnancy? If you have what did you think of it and where did you get it? Let me know I'm intrested please. Thank you

What can I do next?

I am not familiar with that book or author. However, I would highly recommend purchasing a fertility monitor. My husband and I had some difficulty getting pregnant with our first child. We did some fertility treatments with no success and finally became pregnant on our own. The second time around I used a fertility monitor. We started trying six months after my son was born because we didn't know how long we would have to try for a second baby. I was pregnant within 2 months!! Good luck!

For a completely different response - it may simply be that Lincoln, Jr. isn't ready for a sibling. Check out all the resources, books, monitors, etc. but there may be a "higher" reason for the delay in getting pregnant. My SIL had similar issues when her 1st child was two-plus. She didn't carry a pregnancy to term again until my nephew was nearly four. He was much better developmentally ready to be a big brother at that point. Just something to think about.

I know this doesn't answer your question -- but I was having problems staying pregnant after having my first child. After my second miscarriage, I started accupuncture. The treatment before you're pregnant is different from the treatment when you're pregnant but I swear by it. My mom also uses it for other issues since a severe car accident and it's changed her life. Something to consider!

I know when people think of specialists, the scary procedures are the first thing thought of. However, my friend was trying to get pregnant for a long time and finally went in to get tested for a few things. It turned out that she and her husband had a bacteria of some sort. They both needed to take an antibiotic and then she got pregnant RIGHT AWAY! There are simple things that they can look for also. Just an FYI.

Have you tried the Clearblue Easy Ovulation Monitor? You can find them on eBay for a lot less than brand new. The sticks are a little pricey, but the best price I found (3 years ago) was on Amazon. It will tell you what your hormone levels are on any given day, low, medium, high and peak (ovulation). After my cycles got regular, it took me less than 6 months to figure out that although I was having a period, I was not ovulating.

Good luck!

If you are serious about conceiving soon I'd say see the specialist in tandum to reading the book. I have ALWAYS had issues so it was a no brianer for my regular Dr. to send me to a specialist even before reaching a year of "trying". At that point I was going in for 1-2 blood work ovulation tests a week for about 2 months. Ironically, I got pregnant without medication -- however even the Dr. couldn't say exactly when I ovulated. We truly feel our little guy is a miracle.

We are now "trying" for number two and although I've been doing LOTS of reading on various ways to help with this ovulation issue --- we have also said that we will start seeing the Dr. in August if we haven't conceived. Sometimes the best "home" remedies just can't fix the issue. See a Dr. will at least give you a clearer picture of what you are trying to "fix" naturally at home.

Good Luck!

M. - if you open to any alternative routes, I hear that acupunture works wonders. If you're in the Golden Valley area, I have someone I would recommend.

I've also heard that a vitamin D deficiency can cause infertility issues. I recommend to all my customers that they get 15-20 minutes of sun every day without any sunscreen, expose your skin as much as possible but don't get a sun burn. Early morning and late afternoon sun is great.

Good luck,

Unfortunately I haven't heard of the book. But your post made think of when I was trying to get pregnant and couldn't. We had no fertility problems, so my OB prescribed a pill called Clomid which insured that I ovulated at the correct time so we knew when to try to conceive. It worked the first time I took it and was pregnant right away! Just something for you to think about...
