I'm looking for someone to take family photos for my family--including some cousins and extended family members. We're looking to do something outside or in our home, not in a studio and want someone that does unique single portraits as well as larger groups. Does anyone have a great photographer they can recommend?
Wow--what a great resonose. Thanks to everyone that provided recommendations. I had no idea there were so many fantastic phtotographers to choose from. Will start making calls to discuss on Monday and hope to hire someone for the job soon as the baby's not gettign younger!

My company (in San Anselmo) used Kathi O'Leary to take photos of some of our clients for a new marketing mailer. At first I didn't even know they were our clients, I thought we must have bought the pictures off a website. Kathi's work in a natural setting was amazing. She can do the traditional stuff if you want, but what you will see from her website is that she captures so much personality in her photography. We had her do a mix of indoor/outdoor stuff, a very few "posed" photos, but mostly candid shots. We will definitely be using her again in the future. Have fun!

He is great with adults, fabulous with kids and somehow is able to corral large groups into amazing photographs with ease. He specializes in portraits and yet still manages to bring out the individuals in group shots.
Totally talented, wonderful to work with, he even travelled to my house and set up a portrait session for my family there when I was stuck on bedrest. I've seen his work in school settings, at public events, in weddings and in individual and family portrait settings and have been delighted with his results each and every time.

What I loved about Peter is that he really captured the essence of my son. Nothing was staged (not what I wanted). He just took tons of pictures of my son running, jumping, smiling, playing, etc. He does portraits, weddings, commercial work, and art photography (shows in galleries, etc.). He is extremely detail oriented, and is passionate about photography.

I used Maurice Ramirez in Alameda for my family photos when my daughter was 15 months old. He is great and loves to shoot outside his studio. We will definately use him again to further document our family as it grows.
