We are looking for a great camp site in Northern or NW Illinois for a short family getaway before school starts. We would like cabins or quiet large campsites. Activities for kids a plus. We would like to hike, see sights, have family fun :) Would also consider southern Wisconsin. Thanks for any advice!

My family just got back from Northern Wisconsin camping. I would suggest The Chain of Lakes parks on rt.173. I have not been there yet, but plan on it. Many of the locals around here go and tell me it is nice. The state camp grounds are cheap and kept clean. I have a good friend that will be there next week (I know her family would not go there if it wasn't clean or fun)! Go to www.reserveamerica.com to make reservations.

This is about 45 minutes North/East of Gurnee in Wisconsin. They have a pool, a park and sheduled kids activities. Check out there web-site! Hope it works!
we just got back from Amboy, Il yogi bear camp ground it is not rustic but tons of stuff for the kids constantly so it was pwerfect, they were never bored and my kids are 8 and two 4 year olds. enjoy
