I am 43 and my doctor gave me some samples of Loestrin 24 Fe birth control pills to help with my perimenopause symptoms, mainly my periods have become heavier and longer. I suffer no hot flashes as of yet so it's really to help lighten my periods and regulate me. Please don't reply about more natural remedies as I am quite aware of these and tried many and still use some. I really am more curious about the use of low dose birth control pills and your experience with them.

I was on it before I got pregnant. I didn't have any of the typical side effects that normally accompanies birth controls (such as weight gain or depression). I loved it and would definitely get back on it after I have my kid. My doctor said that this was the response that he has been receiving from his patients as well.

I took them for about a year before getting pregnant again and was very pleased with them. If you're taking them for lighter periods, they will definitely work. I too had only 3 day periods that were very light with little to no cramping.

I love this pill! My period is only 1-3 days.
I too was on it for a while before I decided to get pregnant. My periods were a maximum of three days and very light - hardly any cramping. I think they are a great choice for birth control pills.
