My six year old would like to donate her hair to Locks of Love. I know that anyone can cut it and send it in, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how to make it special, a place that might "specialize" in it, etc.

What can I do next?

My daughter donated her hair a couple of years ago through Great Clips. They will give you a free haircut and send the ponytail in to Locks of Love for you. It must be at least 10 inches though.

Blessings,
N.

Hi Sarah, that is so wonderful of your child. I have donated to Locks of Love twice now and I would suggest that you make sure they cut at least 10inches and make sure its in a ponytail and the hair has just been washed and dried.

Hi, Sarah...I don't know of any places that specialize in Locks of Love cuts. They used to have a list posted on their site, but they don't anymore.

I would do a before pic- her with a big smile, of course. :) And then, an after pic with her, holding her pony tail(s) and a huge smile. :D

After you send in the donation, she will receive a postcard from them, thanking her for her donation. Maybe you could do a scrapbook page for her in her scrapbook (if you have one), with her pics..and then, with her postcard later.

What a wonderful gift she is giving! You may even want to write her a letter about what a self-less and beautiful gift she is giving. :) And while you're at it, give yourself a little pat on the back. This shows you're doing a GREAT job raising a responsible, caring, loving, and giving young girl! Great job, Mom! :D
