I want to get my daughter a Lite Brite for her birthday. Anyone have one of these new flat screen kind? There is only one review on Amazon and it said the LED pegs don't light up that well. What's your opinion? This was such a fun toy for me when I was a kid.

What can I do next?

This has been our "go to" birthday gift this year. My son loves his. He makes his creations and then sits in his closet to check out the pictures. You can see the pictures in a dim room, but he likes the spectacle of all the lights in a totally dark room. We love it. My only complaint is the little built in drawer is tough to open and the pegs go flying. So we don't use it. My son stores the pegs in an old tupperware dish instead.

We have the flat one. If you are in a dark room it lights up great. My kids enjoy it :) Good Luck!!!

ETA: Oh yeah---SB had a good point. That flippy tray for the lights bites. We keep ours in a gladware bowl too. First you can't open it, then it flips open suddenly and the lights fly....I forgot to mention that.

We got one for Joseph last year, and he loves it. It did just fine. Especially with the lights dimmed. :)

I just bought one for my child. I didn't try it though, just put the batteries in and made sure it works. Its much different than the Light Bright that I had as a kid. I guess I will see when he opens it up.

We have one and my son likes it but it is true that the tray is a massive pain. It is always stuck which makes it hard for him to open. I can't even open it most times without using brute force and then scarping my hand and pouring pegs everywhere. So, no, I wiuldn't buy it again! :-( Sorry...

We bought one for our boys last year and already got rid of it. The tray for the pegs was a real pain (they were always slipping out), and the pegs fall out of the holes very, very easily. My kids (ages 6 and 4 at the time) got too frustrated with it. The pegs didn't even stay in well when I helped them with it.

Good question as both of my kids are getting this for Christmas!!! Yah :) I'm glad to hear others like it. I loved it as a kid, too...which is why I bought it for them!
