Thank you everyone! Yes my DS is 5 years old and has been asking to go for the last year! He will absolutely love it! WE have invited the teenager too but i doubt she will go and that is perfectly fine with us.

We loved Legoland CA! My kids were 5 and 8 and it was great. Rides good for them and we spent 2 half days.

Note to mom & dad: I herniated a disc on the rides there. One that went back and forth and really knocked you around. Also, some roller coasters stop so abruptly it's like a car accident. I never had a back ache in my life and all of a sudden my disc is herniated right after my visit there. Just a word of caution :-/

Depends on your kids ages. We went when my kids were 4 and 6. That seemed like the perfect age. my husband and I joked that the rides are more like a workout for the parents (pulling a rope to lift you and child up, peddling a bike to move the roller coaster thing, pumping the make the fire truck move, etc). We're glad we went but wont go back. My kids have asked again but the are a bit older not (7 and 9) so I dont think they ill get as much out of it. It will be hot when you go so the water park might be fun but it is pretty small so do keep that in mind.

I agree with the other posts, it's good for the younger kiddos. Sea World is there and that is fun as well (they even have rollercoaster type rides). The SanDiego Zoo is great and there is a wildlife park as well.

We loved Legoland!!! We went a few times when the kids were preschool/elementary age, and that was the best. Probably not as much fun for teens (unless they are super into Legos.) We stayed at the Embassy Suites, in La Jolla I think (?)
San Diego is a great place to vacation with kids, so get on Tripadvisor and start planning your trip now. Have fun!

Depends on the ages of your children. We used to go when my kids were younger, since they opened. The more we went, the more it went downhill. The development of the water park and the hotel definitely took away from the upkeep of the regular park. Now, we haven't been in many years, but have not heard good things, and it has gotten so expensive!

Looks like your from MO...I would not consider going to CA just for that, but if you are there already, it may be worth going just to try it.

I would think it is for kids 7 and under mainly, not that older kids won't enjoy it, but it is geared towards younger kids.

Depends on the age of your children.

I took my daughter (age 9) and her best friend for the first time last year. They didn't really care for Legoland. The only thing they really enjoyed was the room (you can build your own race cars) and they spent an hour there. The rest of the rides were pretty babyish.

Thankfully, the Water Park was opened so I bought tickets and they LOVED it. That was so worth it.

It will be very warm then most likely so you should probably get tickets for water park also.
Look for admission deals because it is expensive.
There are other hotels in the area but staying onsite is kind of cool.
My 15 yo son liked the LEGO stuff but the rides are more geared towards smaller children for the most part. My 8 yo son liked everything and wants to go back.
I personally wouldn't go back. Once you have seen the cool LEGO creations, you have seen them.
There were some "build" stations but not as many as I expected.

If you can stay at the Legoland Hotel, it'll be a really great experience. It's right there on site, so it's easy to go back to the room for an afternoon rest. You also get early admission (one hour) to the park each day. Only six rides are open early, but it's great to knock those rides out with no lines at all. You can get hopper tickets that allow you in and out of the waterpark and/or aquarium.

In the hotel, they give you a new Lego to keep each day. Last summer my kids mostly got mixels. They loved coming in the room and finding them each day. The lobby has evening entertainment, a big castle to play in and thousands of legos to build with.

The park isn't that big and we were able to go on all the rides we wanted each day that we were there. We would go for a few hours in the morning, spend a couple hours back at the hotel resting, then head back to the park in the afternoon for a couple more hours. some days we did the pool in the afternoon instead.

We stayed for four nights and it was a bit too much. I think three days would be good.
