Hello Ladies,
I have a leftover pie crust. Any clever ideas (other than pie) on what to do with it? I heard someone mention they did some cinnamon something with theirs...not sure what though!

Thanks!

The way that I make cinnamon crisps out of pie dough is to just sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the pieces as they are left after cutting off the extra. I don't add butter and I don't roll up the dough. I do cut large pieces into smaller ones.

The reason I use the dough as it is is that the dough will get tough the more you handle it.

To make cinnamon sugar mix equal parts sugar and cinnamon. Or you can sprinkle on the sugar and then the cinnamon.

If you don't want to make a dessert, use it for Chicken Pot Pie. The recipe is on kraftfoods.com. It's SO good! :)

Apple Dumplings are good too.
You need
2 firm apples
1/2 cup of brown sugar
Cinnamon and Nutmeg to taste
Roll out the pie crust
Cut 3x4 squares
Put some of the apple/sugar/spice mix in the center of the square
Fold up the edges and seal

Brush with left over sugar mix in the bottom of the bowl.
Bake at 350* for about 20 mins. They're SO good! :)

just bake it... or twist it into a stick... and that's it.
Yum.
Or yah, sprinkle cinnamon on it. Drizzle butter on it.

Great, now I'm hungry. Gee, thanks ;-)

Another idea is to make rounds, put a dollop of jam or other filling in, fold over and crimp the sides and bake.

if it is uncooked you can lay it on a cookie sheet, spread melted butter on, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar - then bake. YUM!!

I always use mine to either make cinammon crisps - put some butter on the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, roll up, slice and bake like cinammon rolls OR I make a beef pot pie or chicken pot pie.....

Quiche! Mix 2 eggs, 1 cup 1/2 & 1/2, and 1 cup shredded cheese with 1/2 sliced and sauteed onion and whatever leftover veggies you have (2/3 cup diced broccoli or red peppers or some of our favorites), salt, & pepper. After prebaking the pie crust, just bake for 45 minutes to an hour at 375.

It's not nearly as intimidating as most people think, and it's a super way to use leftovers.

Oh, thanks for reminding me! I have some in my freezer after my husband made an AWESOME blueberry pie! I think I'll thaw mine and make lemon meringue simply because it is the best.

We always used the scraps sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and baked, too. If you have enough for a pie, you can wrap it in plastic and freeze it for another time rather than using it, but I agree with whoever suggested quiche--it is an easy and yummy dinner!

Similar to others: Flatten dough, use cookie cutters for shapes, spread a little butter (optional) and sprinkle w/ cinnamon sugar then bake until lightly brown.
Enjoy!

Flatten the dough, spread a mixture of cinnamon/sugar/nuts on the dough, dot with butter, and then fold over the dough. Spread a little butter over the top and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in oven at 350, watching carefully. Bake like you would when you are cooking a pie shell only. Enjoy!

Quiche? 8 ounces grated swiss, 3 eggs or egg substitute, 1 cup light cream of half & half, and the filling of your choice (8 ounces chopped spinach or broccoli, seasonings to taste). Good place for leftover bacon or mushrooms too.
