Late Night Snacks?

I know, totally terrible but what do you have?
I either have cheese and crackers or I just had
peanut butter on crackers. Just a few but still feel bad because it's getting late. Whoops.
I had a busy day but tried to eat decent: salad, grilled chicken, cheese stick, some fruit (not enough) but every once
in awhile I get hungry right before bedtime.
What would you have had?

What can I do next?

Cheez-it's and cream cheese is my favorite midnight snack! Or, a bunch of nuts and a string cheese. If nothing else, I'll microwave some ramen noodles. Lol.

I've read that you get hungry approximately every 4 hours. If you eat breakfast at 8, then you're hungry for lunch around 12. Then hungry for a snack around 3-4:00 (the mid-afternoon munchies!) and then dinner around 7:00. If you're up past 10 or 11pm then you're going to be hungry again!

I get hungry at night so I eat weird things! Sometimes I want sushi! Or ramen noodles. Or bacon. Once I made myself spaghetti at 1am!

I know it's not good to eat before bed ever but I do all the time. Guilty! I weigh the same as I did in high school, about 18 years ago, so I don't think I have anything to worry about!

I visited a nutritionist during my gestational diabetes & she taught me the best trick: to use graham crackers & milk as a bedtime snack.

Grah crax are made with whole wheat....which is a complex carb. It takes your body longer to process this....allowing your body to stabilize over a longer period of time. It truly does work....& I always had better #s in the morning!

Haha - usually cheese and crackers! Tonight we had a pint of fresh blueberries and some yogurt in the fridge, so we dumped the blueberries in a bowl, slapped some yogurt on top of them and sprinked dark chocolate granola over the top. omg - heavenly.

The rest of my dinner, usually :) And then 1-3 more whole meals. Of course, I'm up for another 6-8 hours after "dinner" on a normal night, and another 12 hours on a bad night. (aka to monitor my son and admin meds. I only sleep for 5-7 hours, and I eat (when I'm taking care of myself) every 3 hours or so. Since my days are usually about 18 hours long, that means I'm eating 6 times.

Since I'm the only one up my night time meals are things like cereal, sammies, and leftovers.

I would have a few spoons (Table Spoons) of Hagan Daz ice cream ( I can actually put the box back in the freezer)....rocky road, pralenes and cream, cherry vinalla...Yeah! And since it's my birthday, I would top it off with a brandy!

Blessings....

we ate dinner rather early so I am feeling like I did not eat dinner at all now, and I can't sleep...I like toast either with peanut butter or even just plain butter, I don't know why. If I am cold I love a bowl of quick instant oatmeal, it warms my tummy! If I want salty I can be content with just a handful of my daughters beloved cheese-its or even my sons pizza blasted flavor goldfish ( man those things are salty!!) sometimes if I am feeling like I should watch what I eat I will grab a cup of yogurt, it still feels like dessert to me, I love the stuff. A lot of nights our go to snack is a bowl of cereal with milk, because I rarely feel like cereal in the AM ( I have no idea why)
My oldest sons go to snack is always a bowl of ramen, I know, not the healthiest choice...but sometimes just smelling his makes me hungry for some as well = ) I usually throw some frozen veggies in with mine at least = )
If we have sharp cheddar I can eat a bit of that and feel satisfied.
If I get started on sweets at night time I just can't seem to stop, so I definitely try to stick to a savory choice.
Now that I have answered this question I am hungry = )

Most nights I eat a piece of fruit before bed. It's filling without filling me out.

I snack on roasted edaname. You can usually buy it in either the nut section or the organic section of your grocery store. Feels like I'm eating nuts but less calories for late at night

The best thing to do is whenever you but veggies, wash and cut them up immediately and put them in tupperware in the fridge. You are far more likely to eat them if you don't have to prepare them when you want something to eat. I would try to do that. That way, you are eating something delicious and god for you =)

Try celery with peanut butter!

my favorite nighttime snack is natural, not messed with, popcorn popped in the microwave. The kind with no added anything (specifically butter)... if you have never had it, it is super tasty, much more tasty than you may think for un-buttered popcorn! I also may have a small bowl of cheerios.
