Ok I'm going to start here first I'm roughly 8 days late going off my period last month. I've been crampy like I'm going to start, low back pains that don't seem to be going away even with advil today, hot flashes and bad mood swings so what the heck is going on? I was just at the doctor and my pap finally came back normal this time and then bam now this I feel like I jinks myself if I go for so long feeling good. I'm sure I'm not pregnant cause my husband had a vasectomy 4 yrs ago. Anybody? Thanks

What can I do next?

Well, while rare, it is possible for a vasectomy to fail. If you are normally very regular with your periods, take a cheapo dollar store test just to be double sure. If it's negative, you could just be under a lot of stress that is causing your cycle to get wonky. It sounds like you have been dealing with abnormal pap smears, which I know from experience can be a stressful thing! Try to relax, and if it would help you to feel better give your doctor a call.

Stress, anxiety, or just a wacky month. It could be anything right now. Changes in your routine or sleep patterns or both can affect you. Maybe you're having a bit of a hormonal shift. Or maybe you should just go get a pregnancy test and pee on a stick in your OB/GYN office. My office never charges me for the test or a doctor visit if all I'm doing is peeing on a test. It couldn't hurt.

Hi S., could this be change in weather? My body is different when seasons change. I've gone through those stages too. If you have started a new job, or maybe even the gym it could be what's causing the delay. Stress too is a factor. I wouldn't worry. Go for a nice long walk and relax yourself. Things will be fine. :)

Just beause your husband had a vasectomy does not mean you could not be pregnant. I know of people in the same situation where it all grew back together after years of no problems and she was pregnant. It can happen--just take a pregnancy test to be sure. Also, you don't state your age and are you taking any other meds that could be making you feel badly --even herbal or over the counter. Go see your dr if this continues.

Our bodies are marvelous but they are not a well oiled machine. Sometimes they vary in response to things unknown to us. You're so fortunate to have a history of regular uneventful periods. You needn't be concerned unless this becomes the new routine and then it might be caused by something that needs attention.

I don't know how old you are, but if you are in your 40's your periods can become more irregular as you head towards menopause. Hot flashes and night sweats are a sign.
I'm 49 and my personal best to date is 51 days between periods (and there's no way I'm pregnant).
If you're not in your 40's, any number of things can knock your period out of whack that are not pregnancy related. Stress, change in diet/exercise, gaining/losing weight, weather, etc. Some even say that collage room mates will synchronize periods given enough time. Changes in your thyroid can do it too so have your TSH level checked out.
