Probably the power port on the computer itself. Is it "wiggly"? That's most costly to repair. If that's not it replacement chargers are CHEAP on eBay, and batteries are fairly inexpensive on Amazon if you don't insist on the name brand....
We have a dell laptop M5010. When I plug it in to charge, it does not show the little plug symbol by the battery and will no longer charge. Is this a problem with the charger, the battery,or the laptop itself? It is no longer under warranty. Thank you!

I just had battery problems with my Sony Vio it is 8 years old.. I am not great with computers but will your dell run with out the battery if you just plug it into the wall? My Sony would run with out the battery if pluggeded in.. I called sony and they were helpful they said a new battery an extended life battery would be 250 dollars... or I could get a new lap top for 500 dollars 5 times faster than my older one.. so I went with the lap top.. also I made the mistake first of ordering a battery online not directly from sony and it didnt fit or work they claimed it would and it was cheaper.. be warned.
best of luck,
L.
The fist thing that tends to fail is the cable on the charger from pulling on it and having that large transformer hang on it. Try borrowing another charger (make sure it is the same, not just any that fits since wattage are different between Dell models)
It sounds like the cable is bad. They do not cost much and you can find them at Best Buy. My step daughter had this probelm recently with her Dell.
I just had the same problem on my laptop (not a dell). Find another charger to verify the problem. I went to a local computer repair shop and tried one of theirs for free, just in case it isn't the cord, you aren't out any money.
My problem happened to be the power port on the computer itself. And a little costly to repair. That is the bridge you may have to cross...
