Is it sad that I saw this, and the opening song to the old show Lamb Chos popped into my head?
Lamb Chops, sing along.... Lol.
Anyway, I quite like lamb chops. They are tasty. :)
What do they taste like? Is it tough meat or soft? I have never had them before so looking for some feedback. I love meat!
I am thinking about making some for Christmas dinner but have never prepared it before. I will obviously google but what wanted to know what your thoughts are. TIA!
Thank you everyone for your responses! Cant wait to try it!

Lamb chops are my favourite! Nice and tender and juicy. Don't over cook them though. Simply fry them and yum! Also a leg of lamb roast is beautiful which is what I would choose over lamb chops for Christmas dinner. Roast it with fresh rosemary and garlic, and then serve with mint sauce and gravy.
Oh man, lamb chops! SO delicious! SO tender! Whatever you do, don't overcook them. They are delicate little morsels of perfection when medium rare, but CAN be a bit tough if overdone. My husband likes to grill them (which he does even in freezing weather).
If you love meat, also consider doing duck breast. So easy and more similar to steak than chicken or turkey. Get ones with skin on (I like D'Artagnan brand, lots of grocery stores carry them). Criss cross cut just through the skin/fat layer. Generously salt and pepper them. Pan sear skin side down till deep golden brown, flip over sear the bottom till brown, then pop it into a 300 degree oven till the internal temp is 140 (we like it medium rare, you could leave it in till 160 even if you prefer well done...make sure you use a meat thermometer). Let it rest 5 mins or so then slice it and serve (and yes, eat the layer of golden crispy skin and fat WITH the meat, it's FANTASTIC).
I love meat, too. Our Christmas Eve dinner is always a NY Strip roast and pan seared duck breast (with various sides, of course!). Maybe this year we'll add in some lamb...
I love love love lamb and while I don't know how to explain flavor, I can tell you lamb has a texture similar to beef. It can be cooked from rare to well done, but IMO it tastes better on the rare side. I usually just use some garlic salt and pepper and pan sear in cast iron until it's browned nice on the outside. Check Pinterest for recipes. That site has everything.
I make rack of lamb for Easter, sometimes New years Eve. I haven't prepared Lamb Chops (the little t-bones)
We love it. It is a little rich in flavor but very good.
I coat each rack with some olive oil, season to taste with pepper, garlic and rub down with grey poupon mustard. I use my great thermometer and slow roast, then at the end, blast them so they are nicely browned.
Keep track of the temp because they are best if they are not well done. However, we eat all beef and lamb pretty rare.
I love lamb chops. They are a nice treat. To me they are like a cross between beef and pork. I would suggest you try them before you serve them for Christmas dinner. I remember when I was a kid I didn't really like them right off the bat, but after having them a few times they became a favourite. I agree with Sally that leg of lamb is more appropriate for Christmas dinner.
Can I suggest you go buy some today and cook them to see if you like them?
We have had standing rack of lamb a few times and to me the meat is okay, not great, just okay. We did have mint jelly with it if we wanted too.
Yum. However you will likely be better off doing a leg of lamb for Christmas dinner.
you need a curmudgeonly response, so i'll be the bad guy.
:)
i love meat and eat it often, but i don't eat baby animals. so here's the obligatory response that everyone hates.
