There is one called Lactaid that we use in our family. Children 4 years and Up can use it.
There are now Lactose Free ice cream that they sell now, we buy it, and it tastes just as good as any other ice cream :)
Is there a supplement you can give to a 10 y.o. that is lactose intolerant so they can occasionally enjoy some ice cream or yogurt? DH takes a supplement but there is no dosage information for children.

Ask the Dr. they should be able to convert it.
Also look for recipes on line, My son is Gluten Free and I have found
"replacement" products for most things.
I suggest that you could give him 1 tablet/capsule because the ingredients are natura, water soluble,l and present in the gut of most people. The body will excrete what it doesn't use. They contain no chemicals. But you can ask the pharmacist to be sure.
My Mom is lactose intolerent and we just found that Yoplait has a "lactose free" version. There was only about 3 flavors, but it is worth looking for!

Yes, there is a kids supplement you can buy on line if you are referred by a nutritional consultant who will help you (by phone) fine tune it to kids. It's not an overnight fix but it builds up - remember that a food "allergy" is not a natural thing so what you really want to do is reverse it by giving your daughter the nutrients she needs to be able to process lactose. My friends have used it for severe allergies for kids and I've been to nutritional conferences where I've heard hundreds more talk about it, including many doctors and those who run feeding stations for needy and starving kids. It's all food, no drugs, no warning labels at all. The company has been in business for years and has many awards and designations for their good manufacturing practices and business ethics. Feel free to contact me and I can show you some info on line.
It's fine for your child to use the supplement. The bottle probably says use one and if needed, two, right? Your 10 year old will probably only need one. I took the generic supplement all the time as a child. Luckily I don't need it quite as much now that I am older.
