So What Happened?

I WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU FOR ALL YOUR RESPONSES/ADVICE.

I DO WANT TO SAY THAT THERE WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING BETWEEN COXSACKIE AND KAWASAKI.
WHAT HAPPENED WAS THE FIRST DIAGNOSE FROM THE DOCTOR WAS MONO(mononucleosis). COXSACKIE IS A RESULT OF MONO. THE DOCTOR THEN PREFORMED MORE BLOOD WORK, AND MY DAUGHTER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH KAWASAKI...NOT COXSACKIE. THAT IS WHY SHE HAS BEEN REFERRED TO A CARDIOLOGIST. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION!

IF ANYONE IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS DISEASE "KAWASAKI"...PLEASSSSE LET ME KNOW. I HAVE READ ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET, BUT I RATHER KNOW FROM SOMEBODY THAT HAS GONE THROUGH THIS OR IS GOING THROUGH THIS. THANKS EVERYONE!

My son had it back in the spring but no heart isues. He was really miserable for a couple weeks though and had a little trouble with breathing and high fevers. but thank goodness that was all.

I hope that the cardiologist visit is just a precaution and all will get better on it's own.

I have 3 kids 2 of them have had coxsackie. Neither one has any problems from it. I would definitely take your daughter to the cardiologist.

My youngest daughter had coxsackie at 10 months - and the doctor never said anything about a cardiologist, etc. I didn't know that it could cause any kind of heart issue.

Hope your daughter gets better~

my son had had coxsackie many times, but my doctor never said anything about it affecting his heart. that is new to me, but maybe you can find out a little more by doing some research online, or asking for a second opinion.

We have had a round of it here but never had any heart problems with it. Both my children had it. I hope they find out what's happened quickly. Good luck.

Coxsakie is a virus. An infection can cause various symptoms - cold like, Hand, foot and mouth disease, etc. and like any viral infection can cause some complications, cardiac among them. So if your daughter did have a Coxsackie virus infection and has some suspected heart problems it is a good thing to have pediatric cardiologist see her. You didn't write what symptoms she has so it's hard to say more, but try to stay calm until the cardiologist sees her. It doesn't have to be serious. It might be just to check to be on the safe side. She might just need some rest.
Good luck - I hope everything will be just fine.

Hi!

My son had coxsackie too! So scary! They run high fevers and have a severe irritation in the throat. I didn't hear anything about heart issues with it. My ped is pretty thorough and mentions all possible side effects of everything and she never metnioned that. honestly, my advice would be to take your daughter to the cardiologist just to be safe. Best of luck 2 u!
