Okay; I was just flipping through the channels and wondering what happened to all the good kid shows?! I remember as a child I would watch "I Love Lucy".....I wasn't rasied on cartoons either. As i got older, Nickelodeon popular and we all watched shows like "All That" or "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" (my father even loved that show!). I was just wondering what good shows are out there for the kids no? I've seen "Dora" and "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse"....tons more to the list there, but where is the good old comedy?! I loved the older shows! Its funny how kids like certain shows only. I'm sorry but I didn't have a choice what I got to watch or not! Let alone video games. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but when I see kid shows that have words in it like "Stupid", "jerk", "shutup" and etc I wonder about it! A lot of these shows are even rated Y7 or G or even PG! I am surprised. I think even one kids movie had the "da*n" word in it and not relating to a beavers da*n either LOL! Oh and I also want to mention; those classic Disney movies like "Snow White", "Cinderella", and "Sleeping Beauty" are still hits when the kids! I put on a few of those movies and the kids loved them!

I guess I just had to put my 2 cents out. What shows do your kids watch? How much TV time per a day? Just curious!

Thanks!

I actually made a point to share/show my kids some of the shows I enjoyed when I was young. I guess you could say my husband does/has too.

I remember watching shows like The Andy Griffith Show, Leave It To Beaver, Gilligan's Island and my favorite cartoon: Pink Panther.

I walked past my 14 yr old son yesterday and he was watching some streamed Leave It To Beaver. :)

We all gather around together and watch old streamed episodes of The Rockford Files, too. That was my husband's favorite.

I have to say that I am shocked by the general raunchiness of cartoons that are aimed at boys these days- my kids love shows like Adventure TIme, Total DRama Island, the Amazing world of Gumball. I really think that they have finally realized that boys and girls (and men and women) are pretty different when it comes to humor. THis is why there are now so many cartoons to appeal purely to boys who find farts, burps and butts to be hilarious. I miss the days when they liked the sweet shows.

I will add that I would not let my boys watch edgy shows if they acted at all like any of the kids on these shows. They have proven that they can watch and still remain respectful and polite little boys.

My son never laughs more than when he watches the Stooges or Looney Tunes - but he likes physical comedy.

My son loves Garfield, anything Superhero, and educational DVDs. We don't have tv, so select shows for him to watch via Netflix and the library's DVDs. There is a lot of junk out there. He will watch Psych with us and dances to the theme song. Some episodes we skip b/c they look scary for him.

I banned my daughter from "Arthur" years ago because D.W. used nasty, nasty words---and that was 13 years ago!

It has only gotten worse w/ many of the shows !

It should be unacceptable for kids to see shows w/ the words you mentioned above...

Wait a few years when they're bored of little kids shows and movies and you try to find movies you can take tweens or teens to that don't include lots of double meanings, cursing, vulgar language and intent, violence, etc. Try to find a really good movie that's not FILLED with stuff you don't want y our tween / teen watching. And don't be fooled - the PG13 of today is the R of my teens. We took the kids to see Valentines Day a couple of years ago and had to leave after the movie opening was made up of the "morning after" a one night stand of numerous couples. YIKES.

My children's tv has been staying on Boomerang a lot lately. We are currently very upset that they have changed the programming to where Scooby Doo is not on at bedtime. Our routine used to be that they would watch one or two Scooby Doo episodes, tv off and off to sleep. Which reminds me I need to find a way to get in touch with Boomerang and let them know our displeasure.

Many of the shows now are horrible. I won't let my children watch several of the shows on now. (Phineas and Ferb...just rude little kids and their sister is the pits; Fairly Odd Parents, Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo is just obnoxious; Yo Gabba Gabba, etc).

My kids love Victorious, iCarly (not as much anymore), Figure it Out, Splat a Lot, Thomas the Train, Scooby Doo, Dora, Team Umizoomi and Berenstein Bears.

Even at 10 & 12 - my kids LOVE to watch Scooby Doo!!

The shows my kids watch - are not what I would've watched - and sometimes not what I would prefer them to watch. We do talk about things in the shows that I have "trouble" with.

They watch these two shows - Victorious and i-Carly.

however, they LOVE LOVE LOVE the Three Stooges, Hogan's Hero's (we have it on DVD), I dream of Jeanie and other shows like that!!!

My favorite current show out there that my kids like is good luck charlie. I do hear shut up and jerk and stupid a lot (not in that show but in others) but I can tell you one thing. If I step outside and just listen to the neighborhood kids playing outside the least of my concerns is what is said on tv. JEEZE those kids are mean. My kids know not to say those words im sure one occasionally slips and the other is quick to let me know.
