"Kids Night Out"

My daughter and son, who are almost 6 and almost 7, want to do the "kids night out" deal at our local Painted Earth. They paint and then have pizza and popcorn and you are supposed to drop them off there for like 2-3 hours. It is for ages 5-12. I am nervous about leaving them somewhere like that... have any other mamas ever done any "drop off" activities like that and if so how old were your children?

ETA - Good point Dawn, and this is probably WHY I feel this way... they have only once been watched by a very close friend, other than that it has been family only. The only other time is at school but then again my mom teaches at their Elementary School so I have the security blanket on there also. I know, prob need to ease up a little but I guess I am paranoid :)

What can I do next?

My kids who are younger than that go to the gymnastics parents night out. Granted they go there every Saturday for classes but they really look forward to the once a month night session. Plus it is good for us to get to have adult time and know that they are happy and excited about being at their activity. As long as it is a reputable business that you are comfortable with then I don't see the problem.

Oh, they'll have lots of fun! They're old enough to know what they should and shouldn't do (like leaving the place on their own) and businesses that host these things are usually REALLY stringent because of liability issues. They're also old enough to report back to you regarding anything that wasn't okay if anything like that ever happened. They'll love it -go and eat a nice dinner with your hubby!

I remember my parents doing this with us around this age. Typically, these activities are very well supervised and TONS of fun! Just make sure that wherever you go during that time you have cell reception- just in case!

Oh my gosh, I would LOVE to do that! I can understand your hesitancy, too, but think of it as dropping them off at a day care or think of it as babysitting.
