There is a karate school off of Little Road that people rant and rave about. I think it's somewhere in between 287 and I-20 in a shopping center on Little Road. I have heard that the master is fantastic with kids! I wish I could remember the name for you. Sorry!

Almost every school should allow trial classes............there are tons in Arlington/Mansfield to choose from. Maybe just try a few out?

I have a DH who is a black belt in TKD, so he was adamant about doing it right. We did a lot of research and checked out several programs and finally ended up at everybody fits in coppell. I drive from South Grapevine to get there. But it's worth the drive. There are a ton of classes and they even have specialized classes for the younger ones. You can choose just to do the curriculum (just the belts) or do the competition teams (we are starting this this fall after baseball). They compete nationally and do well. We like the emphasis that they place on respect and that TKD is ONLY to be done in class or competitions. This is the hardest thing for them to learn. My SIL just took her son out of his class (at another center) because he was bullying kids at school. So no matter which program you pick make sure that this is emphasized in the program or you could be raising a bully.

G.,

We have a Lil Legends class for 3-5 year olds. When they turn 6 they advance to our Junior Belts. We are located in Hurst. We have satellite schools all over. If you would like to take a look at our website, its www.legendsmartialarts.com. Let me know if we can help.

Kim's Tang Soo Do school in Watauga is fantastic!

My son has been attending since right before he turned 6, for about 6 months. He's progressed to an orange belt and is adamant that he wants to see it through to black belt.

Master Garwood is great with the kids; patient and fun but VERY firm. He demands respect & discipline. Higher belts are expected to be role models and mentors for newer kids and help them with the classes. It's really a great set up and my son's self-confidence has greatly improved!
