My husband and I recently booked a trip to Disneyworld. Five nights and a four day hopper pass to the parks in December will be our late honeymoon, 2 yr anniversary, Christmas, and my birthday gift *we tried to justify as much money as possible...lol.* and our 18 month old son is not coming with us. By that time, he will be 20 months, and my MIL is coming to stay with him at the house while we are gone.
The last time I went to disney, I was a freshmen in High school... it was a while ago. My husband has never been. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on things we can do that will help us to enjoy ourselves; get our monies worth of the trip. We are staying at one of the resorts on the park, as well as already made reservations for one restaurant a day to eat at to give us a reason to sit down and soak up the atmosphere. Ofcourse, I absolutely love disney cause i'm a kid at heart... but there were many things that have developed at disney since I have been there, and I dont want to miss out on things that will make the experience better.
Any ideas, experiences, and advice would be appreciated.
Hi S.,
Wow! A second honeymoon, how nice! My hubby and I just celebrated 20 yrs! so as you can see I'm just a little older than you! lol
One thing I can highly recommend when you go to Disney is something called a rolling soft sided back pack cooler. I got ours at Stein Mart (cooper city). They may still have have. When we go to disney, we have our 3 kids + us and that's a lot of people wanting snacks/drinks during the day. Security will search it when you enter the parks but you are allowed to bring food and drink into disney parks (just no glass bottled drinks. When in rides, you simply park it by stroller section. We bring bottled water/little sodas, cut up fruit, crackers, etc up in the car. Most resorts have a little fridge. If not, they always have ice. I cannot justify spending lots of $$ on water and fattening snacks at disney...alright I have to admit that I do allow for the Mickey ears ice cream, but just one! lol Some might object to having to pull the cooler through the park but it is light as it is soft sided and it's a trade off to having the drinks/snacks you want and an area where you can save $$. Yours shouldn't be too full w/ 2 people. Plus, you'll have a way to snack on the way up and back from disneyu. We also buy the crystal light powders and add to our cold water bottles. Well, hope this idea was helpful. Enjoy! K.
get there as soon as the parks open so you CAN enjoy all of it. granted the last time we went was almost 5 yrs ago and in july, so the lines were long. we got there at approx 12 and left when it closed and we still didn't get to do everything we wanted to at disney. Pleasure Island at night is great... all types of music, restaurants, clubs, etc. ENJOY the time alone and catch up on sleep.
Hi S.
your idea sounds great. I think Disney is a fantastic place to have fun just with your husband, you'll feel like a child again, and that will be wonderful! I have not done it yet, but I have been with my older children, therefore, I had a different experience than catering to a baby, so we went to the "scary" rides, and the shows, took it as easy as we wanted, etc. One highlight of the trip was to eat in one of the Epcot fancy restaurants. There is a French or an Italian(in each of the country pavilions) that I can recommend to you. You have to make reservations and it's not cheap, but if you order wisely(don't order soda, instead get a glass of wine if that's what will make it romantic for you, and, share dessert, get only one appetizer or none, if you can live with one main course each of you).Another unique experience in Disney is the night at Pleasure Island. That is just for adults, you can hope from bar to bar, and form the different shows until your body lets you. There is a comedy place that is outstanding, and includes people's participation in a very fun way. And there is dancing all the time from all styles. You pay an entrance fee, and then only the drinks, the rest is included.
Also, if you still can spend a bit more, The "cirque Le solei" in Downtown Disney is an amazing show. If you have not seen any of those, you should try this one, it is worth every penny.
Good luck and just have fun!
F.
