I heard on the radio yeasterday about the new law about our children being home schooled in now aginst the law. I have been doing reasurch on it since then to see what the whole deal is. To all of you who didn't know yet I wanted to give you a heads up and to all of you who do know and might have some new info for me I would greatly appreciate it.

I saw a thing about that the judge made a ruling public which means that homeschooling can be construed as illegal. There's a petition going around now to amend the law, or the constitution, not sure off the top of my head which one it is, but here's the link I got. I signed the petition because I think it's nuts!

The governor and the Jack O'Connell (the head of the Dept. of Education) have said this will not be enforced. They feel homeschooling is an option. There are two legal organizations trying to get the ruling depublished which means it would only apply to the family involved. There is also a representative who is trying to pass legislation to make homeschooling legal.
As of right now, there are no changes in the way anyone homeschools their children. Everything is the same.

As far as I know this bill has not passed yet. Also, it ONLY affects those filing the R-4 Affidavit or homeschooling without any documentation at all. Those homeschooling with a Charter school are perfectly fine.
