Jumperoos

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these jumperoo things? I want to get two for my twins for Christmas, but I heard (maybe on here, or somewhere else) that they're sometimes dangerous, that a few people have had problems with babies breaking their legs? Maybe that's just when its set too low. Either way, kind-of nervous. =/ Any insight?

What can I do next?

I have a jumperoo and my daughter absolutely loves it. We have been putting her in it since she was able to sit up(6months). She has a blast. As long as you raise it at the right time, you shouldnt have any problems. I raised it to a two when I saw that her legs were bent way too much. Now she goes crazy jumping in it. Its great exercise for them. My one yr old niece(very small for her age)still jumps in hers from time to time.

I had them for my twin boys and they were a HIT!!! They absolutely loved them. They would get in there and bounce and bounce and bounce. I would definitely recommend them!

My twin 15 mo old boys have been using their jumperoos since they were about 4 or 5 mo and they absolutely love them. I do not leave them unattended. Sounds like maybe it's something you should discuss with your pediatrician. He or she would know whether your babies' legs are developed enough to handle it. good luck with your twins.

I haven't heard about anyone breaking their legs on it. Plus if that does happen then they would be recalling it. I have it for my son and he loves it. He is four months old and jumps and plays in it all the time. The only thing is that once he started to jump in it he only want to jump and stand up when you are holding him. I think it is good for his legs cause it helps strengthen them. I love it.

All three of my children loved them and never injured themselves using them. My youngest daughter used hers all the time and jumped really high and flew back and forth in the doorway with no injuries. I used to put her in in the the doorway to the bathroom so that I could shower. My second child liked it also and I had two of them so that I didn't have to move them up and downstairs. My third liked it, but I think that I was so busy with all three that I didn't pay much attention to how well she took to it. My sisters all had children that used them and they were never injured. Good luck. I hope that they enjoy them as much as my oldest did.

Hi R.,

First, I think I read that you split from your husband and you have 4 month old twins. Do you have help? How are you doing? I have 2 1/2 old b/g twins and I know how hard it is! My husband lived out of town the first year and commuted back and forth, but I had my mom all the time to help!

Jumperoos - go for it. With two babies, you need what you can. I tried it and loved it, but I and J didn't go for it the way I wanted them to. I have several friends who LOVE them and use them all the time. Follow the directions and don't leave them alone while playing in them and nothing will happen. Just read the box, check for any recalls, and I would typically go for the "litte more expensive" ones as they are a little more sturdy. I wish I still had mine and I would give them to you!

Are you in the Lubbock area? You don't have to answer if you don't want to. I am just in awe of you doing it through going through a divorce. You are a strong woman!

they've neer been recalled. I was too scared to use them for my kids. But my sister used one for her boys and they absolutley loved it....I guess you have to make really sure that you are hanging it properly.

I LOVED our jumperoo and I'm getting it again for the next baby. We never had any accidents or injuries. It may be possible to have an accident if the child is too heavy but as long as you follow the guidelines and weight restrictions, it should be ok. The jumperoo helped my son strengthen his legs and he was able to walk at 10 months. It was a lifesaver and he loved it! :)

I have a friend whose baby broke Both of his legs (at the same time) from one of those Jumperoos. Her son was just jumping normally when they broke. Something about their legs not being able to take the pressure from the impact of jumping. I thought they were so neat until I learned that they Do break legs. I personally would never buy one after seeing first hand what they can do. Hope that helps!

my son has one and love it. It's was his favorite toy for the longest time and sometimes he will go to it and want to play in it for a little bit. As long as you are watching them and following all the directions they will be just fine.

I got one for my son when he was about 7 months and at first showed no interest in it. I was even considering giving it away but once he realized what to do in it, he has loved it ever since. Since its stationary, I do not have to worry that he is going to trip over something. We have never experienced any problems with his legs. Just be careful when you put them in and out, sometimes the shoe can get caught in the feet holes on the seat as they get older. When my son gets tired of jumping he just sits and plays with the buttons to turn the lights and music on or moves the small plastic animals on the front.
My son is very active so I guess the jumping helps him burn some energy so that is why I think he loves it so much. My only other advice is to be careful that you buy one that was not someone else's return. Our first one we got, both my husband and I spent hours trying to put it together but later realized that it must have been used because the nuts and buttons were not fitting properly and looked a little warped. We returned it and got another one and it was a snap to put together. Good Luck.

I also wanted to add that you need to be careful to have it adjusted to the correct height. You should have it where they can barely bounce up and down. It's not meant to be used where they can fling themselves up in the air high enough to even have the option to crash down on their legs to break them...

The Jumperoo was a LIFE SAVER for me. My son had severe acid reflux and it was the only time he would spend time alone without me so I could do some housework. He LOVED it! I even bought my friend one for her baby and her little girl loved it too. I think it would be a great purchase. I have never heard anything about babies breaking their legs in them.

Erika T is right. I think the key is to may sure it is adjusted so they can't jump too high. My kids loved theirs and would even fall asleep in it. Mine was one that hangs over the door frame, and my tiny mom tried to set it up on her own one time and missed the top of the door frame. The whole thing fell down on my son, but other than a slight red mark on one of his arms he was fine because he was barely off the ground and not jumping too high.

My daughter ised it more than any other toy her first year. She LOVED it. I've never heard anything bad about it. Its the walkers that I've heard are dangerous and cause injuries.

I would just buy one and see if they both like it. I have 2 year old twins. One of my girls loved the Jumperoo and the other HATED it.

No injuries here either. I think it is supposed to be raised high enough where they are only able to touch the floor with their toes or something like that.

We have the free standing Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo. My daughter LOVES it!! They have clear instructions on how to adjust the heighth properly. It's posted in the manual and also on the jumperoo itself. They want it adjusted so the baby's feet can only reach the floor on their toes, not flat footed. I've never heard of injuries related to this toy. It's my daughter's favorite!!
