HI all,

I went to a Brazilian BBQ dinner years back and it was FABULOUS. Tender delicious meats and yummy salads. So here is my question: Next to the meats was what looked to be a bowl of spice. It almost looked like a rub. We were told it was for dipping your meat into (but it was not wet).

Anyone have a clue what this was? Been thinking about this stuff for years!!

Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Elena - I think that's IT!!!!! OMG. I can't wait to try it. I live right outside of NYC so I can definitely find somewhere to buy the goods or better yet, go to a restaurant and be sure to get some on the side!!

Thanks!!

I believe you are referring to "farofa".

See these links:

https://atasteofbrazil.wordpress.com/2013/09/23/farofa/

(On the second link, go down to the last photo where you'll see the meat being dipped in the farofa).

You'll have to order the proper tapioca starch but the first link tells you where to find it online, unless you have an awesome international grocer near you.

It was most likely Farofa. We used to BBQ with some Brazilenos and they would bring that along.

My initial thought was "chimichurri." But that's not a dry seasoning, so perhaps it's a churrasco blend?
