JFF: How Would You Interpret This Dream?

I had a dream this morning that my 4 year old and myself were sitting on a deck that had what I can only explain as a sort of diving board or plank. We were sitting at the end of the board with our feet hanging over when I looked down and realized that underneath us was nothing but a black void with no ending. I freaked out, send her crawling back to safety very slowly and held her tight when we were ok. It was a terrifying dream and I'm curious to know how you might interpret it. If it makes any difference, she was sleeping with me last night which is out of hte ordinary. She woke up scared so I let her sleep with us.
I usually don't put much stock in what I dream about but this one has been in my head all day.

What can I do next?

I think dreams reflect our fears and of course every mother worries about bad things happening to their kids. I once had a dream that our dd fell off our balcony and the next day I went and put big sheets of cardboard over the spaces between the spindles on the balcony. I don't know if she could have gotten through those since our house was built before they put those spindles more narrow...but after that dream I wasn't going to wait and find out.

The fact that you normally don't sleep w/ her might have made you fall back asleep in a subconscious state of mind, which allowed you to absorb her fear and bad dream, and then you "rescue" her, like a good mama :)
