I didn't even feel it when it was taken out! I did have some cramping and spotting after but no big deal!
Take lost of deep breaths to help keep you calm. Good Luck!
I am getting my IUD out tomorrow morning because it has been very uncomfortable and hurting me the last few weeks. For those of you who have had one removed, what should I expect?? For me, getting it in, HURT! Is it gonna be the same way with pain, cramping and bleeding?? I am just nervous is all lol and need some encouragement. :)
Thanks mommas!!
Thanks wveryone for your encouraging words!! Now I need them for the next step! :( They couldnt find it so they sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound and xray there. They found it outside of my uterus, ugh just my luck!! So on the 17th I have to have a procedure (its a big word and cant remember to tell you what it is lol) where they go through my belly button to get it out. SO not looking forward to it but really anxious to just get it out of my body!! THanks and I guess I am one of those rare few taht it goes through to my abdomen. The first for my doctor even!!
*hugs*

I just got mine out on Monday. It was a touch uncomfortable, and almost felt like pulling off a very loose scab (not painful, just a feeling of 'oh, somethings separating'). I had a few VERY minor cramps that day, but nothing at all like when it was put in (I passed out in the doctors office for that! lol) and have had no bleeding.
For me, getting it removed was a piece of cake. I have had two, and the first one hurt a LOT on insertion, the second one only hurt mildly on insertion (after a vaginal birth), and neither hurt on removal. I took some advil prior to my appointment just in case.
i had a copper iud and the removal was easy as pie. In fact the doc had to say ok all done.
I've heard its not a big deal to get it out. In fact, my dr said that if I could reach the strings, I could pull it out myself. Although she said that women like to come into the office to do it. So I probably will, just in case. But it's supposed to be that easy to remove. :)
don't be nervous. taking it out is the easy part. i didn't feel much of anything when mine was taken out. good luck!
I had/have the mirena, for me the removal was nothing... The worst part was them putting the clap thingy in to open me up... It shouldn't hurt when they remove it. Placing them is when it is more likely to cause pain or discomfort.
Having it was very painful for me (including back pain and cramps), so I had it removed.
The removal was so easy and painless and a few days later I had some light spotting.
My next period was long and I had painful cramps.
Since then, no problem at all. I'm so happy I had it removed!
It only took a second, and didn't hurt at all. The most uncomfortable part for me was when the doc put in the... shiny stainless steel thingy (you know, the 'torture device', it's too early to think)... but it definately didn't HURT. You'll feel so much better with that thing out! I had every side effect in the book... I felt normal again after about 5 days. AMAZING. Good luck!
If it has been uncomfortable and hurting, it may be dislodged; this is what happened to me and getting it out was a relief! It did not hurt, but maybe take ibuprofen before hand just in case.
