I wish I could move back to the Northern US it's so bloody hot here. I hate not being able to go take a family walk after dinner or just go run a few errands without coming back absolutely drained. I looked at the temp in my last city I lived in up north and they have a gorgeous 78 degrees today, I admit I'm jealous.

Yep, I'm in humid Houston, the armpit of Texas.. Hot here too! We are staying cool inside, I don't go out in this heat... would never make it in Arizona or the Philippines.

South Texas here. Thermometer says 113...and that doesn't take into account the heat index or anything. That's straight air temp. I was going to do some baking and pickling jalapenos...forget that though. The AC is barely keeping up with the heat as it is. We were supposed to go to the Farmer's Market this morning, but they closed it early because of the heat.

Basically, the stupid heat has ruined my weekend, lol.

Our Central air unit has had a tough time all summer trying to maintain the inside temp to one we could live with...this past week it froze up, we let it thaw and miracle of miracles it began working again, That was Thursday! Now it is Sunday and once again it is frozen over.
It is 85 inside right now and I am not sure how hot it is outside.
On an up note, I did not have to blow dry my hair = )
And I do not know if it is a good thing or bad thing, but the meal planned for today was a crock pot pot roast, so not sure if the crock pot adds to the heat or is helping by not making me stand over a stove to make supper...but it is what it is, drinking lots of ice water and dreaming of Fall = )

I'm in Allen/Plano area.

I love Texas and this is the hottest summer we've been through.

We moved here in Dec 1989 and on moving day the temp was 0!!! I was ready to go back to NC that day!

10 days later, the temp was 65!

I have a picture from this past Feb on my fridge of my house when we were snow/iced in!! I hate cold/ice/snow!

I'm being bad today, using my oven and stove top for dinner. Of course, keeping eyes out for the water police!!

Have a great afternoon!!

Nope. Not hot here.
I don't think we've even seen 75 let alone 100.
I hate it here for that very reason.
The sun is out, but I still have two sweatshirts on. And sweatpants.
It's August and we have to turn our heater on at night.
I long for the heat.
As soon as my son graduates from high school, I'm outta here!
I'm sorry you're tired of being hot.
I'm tired of being cold.
I guess it's all relative.

Hang in there!

Girl, I hear that!! I'm near Houston and can feel the skin cancer forming when I walk outside. Today we put up a screen on our front glass door to cut down on the glare and put window tinting on the window above the door. It gets full sun from about 3-8 pm and is so hot. My parents re-finished a cast-iron bench they found on the side of the road and it was so hot sitting in the sun, my husband and dad couldn't even touch the metal to move it. We hardly even go outside anymore! I'm ready for Fall for sure!

Tropical storm in upstate NY today, not as rough as some areas, but still a concern. Still, I'll take a day or two of Irene over months of 110 degrees where you are this summer!

Stay cool!

Hello! I thought it has been hot here!! I am in colorado and it is about 95 today. We have been breaking some high temperature records in the last couple of weeks. Usually the end of august is a bit cooler for us! I think tomorrow is supposed to be 86-88 so that will be nice! Good luck with the heat! Hopefully there is a swimming pool near by!

It's 76 here in Minneapolis, MN. I will gladly put up with our months of cold and snow to avoid that kind of heat. We had a few days of record-setting 110-115 heat index this year and that is all I can take of that. I can go running at 30 degrees below zero wind chill, but you can't do anything outside in heat.

It will take more than heat to make me loath the great state of Texas (don't worry, I know you're joking when you say that - right???! hehe). But, oh my, I hear you on the heat. I know it's usually hot here in the summer, but this summer has been extra bad. I'm 34 weeks pregnant, and if I go outside, my arms and legs start melting and falling off. hehe. We definitely don't go outside very much! I look forward to either having the baby and being able to handle the heat better OR for the weather to cool of a bit. Not only is it hot here, but there's the humidity that likes to make it even hotter.

Same here, but being a a native, its no big deal. In fact, August is my favorite month.
I don't know who told you it won't get better until October. It usually starts to rain in September and it gets cooler. That's when my depression sets in because I have to wait until at least May to go water skiing again.

We've had a rough week with earthquakes and hurricanes.
Today it's about 80 or so. We are putting things back where they belong after securing them on Friday.
Right now the North East looks great, but in January when they are at -5 and you are at 75 and sunny, you'll be glad to be in Texas.
The grass isn't always greener -- it's just different.

About 2 weeks ago it jumped FORTY degrees upward (prior to a few weeks ago we'd only had 22 minutes above 75 all summer, and less than 2/3s of a single day over 70).

Granted, that means we got into the 80's.

Which is weird, since I grew up in deserts, jungles, and swamps where 90 is "cool"... that it feels hot. Also there is NO air conditioning in most homes and apartments. So people start dying in the 80's. Literally, not just figuratively.

This coming week it's supposed to be in the 60's (sigh). So we're trying to squeeze every last drop of sunshine out of our lives right now. Since when it's gone, we'll have 10 months of grey skies, drizzle, aching joints, and soggy dampness.

SO TIRED of the cold! I want swimming pools, and suntans, and air-conditioning again!

Come on up to Bend, Oregon. It was in the 80's today, finally hot enough to go floating down the river. The Deschutes runs right through the middle of town. Just bring a tube, raft or pool toy, get in upstream and float for an hour or more to Drake Park where you get out of the water and take the city bus back to where you started. (There's a trailer in back for your floatie.)That's what I did all weekend.

edit: I'll be whining come winter when our roads are iced over and you all are enjoy sunshine and mild weather!!

I'm in NH, and apparently we had a hurricane today. I know some areas got it worse than others, but if I hadn't seen the news in the last week, I would never have known and would have thought it was just a downpour and a bit of wind. Currently 69 degrees with a lite rain.

I'm in Texas too. Yep hot here. At least yesterday was overcast. I can't wait till the fall - ie probably after Halloween. Last halloween was decently warm.

Today - we stayed inside most of the day. My husband and 3 yr old are outside catching bugs right now though, to feed the grass snake and praying mantis that we caught Saturday. My husband took a cold shower before going outside and he's already dripping with sweat, as is my son. They came in a few minutes ago. Hubs grabbed a cold beer. Son grabbed a cold juice box, and they went back outside to find more bugs. I am SO glad they are out there and not me, plus I am glad they're spending time together. :)

I'm right down the road. I try not to leave my house unless absolutely necessary AND my A/C is not keeping up at all. SO, it's 110 outside and 80 in my house. Yeah, I'm sick of it too! This is much worse than usual. It's relentless. Kind of makes global warming a little scarier and more real to me. I could not take this year round. 5 mos of summer is enough.

I HATE the heat, and can't wait for winter.
To top it off, for some strange reason I decided to go out at the hottest part of the day on Saturday to haul some rocks around my back yard. I only lasted 30 minutes before I was drenched and had to come in. I felt sick the rest of the day. In short.....im a dumb aaaaaaaanyway. ;)
What cheers me up is looking at all the winter stuff stores are already stocking. I can not wait to by the cute sweaters, and yummy smelling candles, etc. I just keep holding out hope, lol.
