I don't even know you, but I'm so proud of you!!! Perhaps you will be my motivation to quit!! Good luck, Spidermonkey! You can do it!!!
GO YOU!! Congrats!!
One of my friends came over this past weekend, and she was celebrating 11 MONTHS not smoking... on the 1 year anniversary, she's going to total up the $ the saved not smoking, and buy herself something nice ;)
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!
You will feel so much better. Really.
My FIL smoked for 45 years, he was finally made to quit, hospitalized for a month after a stroke and now can't stand the smell. But get this-- He smells!!!!! He used to not be able to. He also can taste things. It's been 4 years and he is still paralyzed on his right side but he is always marveling at the things he missed while smokiing.
You can do it. Hang in there.
You are My Personal Hero For The Day for even just making it 5 days!
Congrats!
:)
Congrats!
When I quit ( and then stupidly started back up....) week 2 was the hardest for me, then week 3 it didn't bother me unless I was bored. Keep up the great work!
Stay strong and don't start back up like I did :(
YEA!!! Congrats!!! Keep up the hard work. It has been 3 yrs for me!! It was so hard in the beginning. I carried coffee stir sticks with me everywhere. Especially in my car. That was my weakness, driving and smoking. It gives your hands something to do and it is something to chew on that won't cause you to GAIN WEIGHT!!
I am proud of you!!! I know how hard this is. Don't give up!!
Good luck and GOD BLESS!!
D.
Congratualtions! How much did you smoke a day? If 1 pack a day, you've saved at least $40 this week! That's a motivator. Maybe you could put your cig money in a Christms savings account or a for a trip for the family. That should keep you going. Think about how proud your family is right now! You are the hero mommy. Is food starting to taset good again? That's a huge motivator. Keep going mom. You're over the hardest part. It wont be long before you can take it to the bank!
.
Good for you! Awesome! Though I'm not a smoker, I know a few people that quit and yes, you cough up a storm cause I think your body is repairing itself - kinda like an itch when a cut is healing? I googled and found this site - maybe it'll help. http://www.quitsmokingsupport.com/coughing.htm
Good luck!
Good for you! You will be so much healthier. If the urge gets to be too much, post again. We will support you.
Oh, Spidermonkey, Good for you! My MIL quit about 10 years ago. She was a 3 pack a day smoker. those long cigs, 100's, I think they are called. She quit cold turkey. She coughed like crazy for a while and coughed up a bunch of really gross stuff (sorry). I told her that her lungs were cleaning themselves and she felt the same way. She said that she could taste her food and it was better than she thought. She could also smell things better (which isn't always good if you ask me) :) Imagine your favorite food. Now imagine it tasting better than you thought it ever could. Keep holding on!
I ate a lot of Twizzlers when I quit a very long time ago.
When you want one think about all the nasty stuff you are coughing up from your lungs, that should stop the craving. Keep up the good work!
You can do it! It's very hard and I know someone who just quit and I'm so proud of him. It was a long time for him and he was coughing and coughing and now it's stopped. No cough and he feels better although still thinks of smoking. It takes a while, maybe years, to not think of it but think of the alternative and keep going!
You can DO this!
Once it's totally out of your system you are going to feel SO much better.
Seriously - save up the money you would have spent on cigs and splurge on something nice for yourself at the 1 year mark.
A heating pad on my chest can help with the coughing when I have a cold.
A humidifier might help, too.
Keep up the good work!
Keep up the good work !!! $3,600 in savings a year.

Did you ever see the commercial? ladies in the bathroom and the smoker is looking in the mirror and the image of her face is aging. Traumatizing!!!
Good Job!
Well they say it takes, what, 28days to beat a habit?Seems like FOREVER haha
It does get worse before it gets better. Your body is going through withdrawls right now, which sucks. Try chewing gum when you have the urge to smoke!
Keep up the great work!!
Yep, your lungs are trying to heal. You are doing a great job! I have noticed when I go 2 weeks without smoking, it gets WAY easier after that point! Congratulations, you are doing a great thing for yourself and your kids.
I started smoking again, and it makes me feel soooo guilty. I wish I could stop. The only time I was able to stop was when I was pregnant and I HAD to. Now I just make excuses, like "Oh I will try next week" and so on. I feel like a failure.
Go you!
That's fantastic!! Keep it going for yourself and your family. And figure every time you cough, it's showing you what cigarettes have been doing to you. Your body and lungs are getting clean!! That's gotta feel good...
YOU ROCK!! YOU GO!!!
This is the worst part...when my dad quit - days 5 through 12 were the hardest...
drinks lots of water and occupy yourself with other things...when Bob quit (he managed to quit for almost 2 years) he needed to put something in his mouth - so he had a tooth pick when he felt like having one...
Another thing that helps is gum
YOU GO GIRL!! ROCK ON!!!
All I can say is that I have been there and it does get better but only if you really want it to. You have to be in a place where you really want to quit otherwise statistics show that you probably wont be as successful as you would like
Good Luck and it can be done just take it day by day and really stick to your guns
EXCELLENT! Keep up the good work. You know you can do it...just don't give in to that urge. You ARE stronger than that stupid addiction.
When I quit, I did things like have my favorite Winter coat professionally cleaned to remove the smoky smell. That way, I didn't want to smoke and get it all stinky again!!
I am so proud of you!! You are doing a wonderful thing for yourself and your family! Stay strong!
Congrats! Keep up the good work! I know it's tough. Each day can be a challenge, but you are on the road to better health.
Keep it up!
21 days to break a habit--good or bad.
Hang tough, Spidermonkey!
So PROUD of YOU!!!! Chew lots of gum, and find things to keep you busy.
My husband, quit cigarettes about 3 months ago. I was so PROUD of him, but then about after 2 months, he said he wanted a black and mild cigar, I told him NO, well, he ended up smoking it, and has since then, now it's getting worse and I'm so upset with him. He first said he just needed to puff on something, and you don't really smoke a cigar like a cigarette. Stay focus on stopping and don't make excuses for one... He does say he has no desire to smoke a cigarette, but in my book he already has.
Use a calendar too, find different support sites. I know one thing that did help him at first was seeing an email each day about how long it's been. I think support is important. Look at how much you are saving by not buying a pack, see how much better your lungs feel, and how much better your food taste... he was really surprise by that.
I'm so PROUD of YOU!!!
Awesomeness!!! You go girl or boy. You've made it 5 days, you can keep going, don't give up. It gets better, I've known a couple people who've stopped.
Think of the money you'll save up and reward yourself
my dad used peppermints to help him through it....he still sucks on them and it has been nearly 25 years....
