Is Your Church Doing a Special Program for Christmas?

In the church I grew up in, we always did a live nativity. It was a big deal when they brought in camels for the wisemen. I remember thinking "maybe one day I will be old enough and be a mom and then I'll be asked to play Mary!" But sadly, I grew up and moved away before I could be asked :(

Our church's kids program is putting on a musical. At the end they are pumping in fake snow and will have tables set up for hot chocolate, cookies and peppermints. If anyone wanted to go inside, they will be running a 2 minute puppet show sharing the gospel.

I love my church during Christmas season. Do you?

What can I do next?

We are - except the kids are being recorded as they act out the scenes and then it's being made into a movie that will be shown during next week's services. My daughter is Mary and I'm pretty excited about that =) I was a little disappointed that it won't be a 'live' performance though but I'm still looking forward to it!

Yes! Our church is doing their Christmas concert this weekend - tomorrow night and Sunday night. All the choirs (including the children's choirs), the orchestra, and the handbells will participate. It's a carol concert, and I think it'll be lovely. I'm a choir member and I hope my voice will return in time for me to be able to sing (I've had no voice for several days).

The first weekend in December is always the Christmas program date. Every alternate year the choir and orchestra do Handel's MESSIAH. On the off years, it is always something different. A couple of years ago we performed the musical A CHRISTMAS CAROL, which was a great intergenerational experience! (I should add that this is a large church that has the resources to do such things. Members of other churches are invited to participate, too, so more people can get in on the fun.)

There are churches in my area who do Living Nativities. It's great! I appreciate everything people do to honor the Christmas season.

Absolutely! Our church does a kids program every year. So next Sunday my daughter will be Mary and my son's will be 2 of the three Wisemen. How fun!!

I also love my church during Christmas, and every other time of year. I always hear what I need.

We have an annual special Christmas program, filled with lots of singing and testimonies on the birth of Christ. The children sing Christmas songs during the actual Sunday service. But we usually have a Christmas party as well.
