Hello... I am shopping around for a kitchen table and chairs. I am particularly interested in a counter height table and bar stools. I am not sure if I want a circular, rectangular or square table. I am gravitating toward the company called Canadel Furniture. I love that you can customize your order by picking the table size, bar stool styles, leg styles, wood color, etc... and I love that they guarantee no stains on the table. But all of this comes with a hefty price tag! Do you know of anyone who has this brand and are they highly satisfied with it? Or if you can recommend another co., I would love to hear about them. I just don't know if it's worth it to me to spend a lot more on my kitchen set. I am almost done getting my kithen remodled and I'm excited to purchase new furniture for it.
Any info. on this would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Joy

I'm another very satisfied Canadel buyer. We bought ours 3 years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. We bought a oval table with 4 chairs in a black stain. Absolutely still love it. Though we did decide once our little one came along to first put a glass top on it (we didn't want to risk the little guy pounding any silverware into the table and denting it)...and then we realized all his spilled glasses of milk weren't very easy to clean up with the heavy glass on it...so now we have an oilcloth over that. So much easier to clean up. Maybe all of protection sounds over the top, but I guess we're hoping it can last until our little one is much older and more well behaved...or even off to college. :)

I have a dining room table, chairs and hutch by Canadel that we got about 4 or 5 years ago. Love, love, love it! I was hesitant about ordering and not being able to see it before hand as the store didn't have exactly what I wanted. But it all turned out perfect. The color matched perfectly and it was gorgeous. We mixed and matched legs on the table to match the chairs, picked out the chair backs even the arms on two end chairs. The quality and craftmanship was so wonderful that the Ethan Allen set I was looking at looked cheap. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. Just remember that since it's a custom order it can take weeks for it to get here. I think mine took 8-10 weeks.

Hi J.,

We purchased a Canadel table with two leaves and 8 chairs over 10 years ago. We love it. The set is well made and still as sturdy today as it was 10 years ago. We use it daily for all meals. We have had people sit in the chairs who were upwards of 300#'s without incident. We chose a natural stain on the top of table and chair seats and whilte paint on the rest. The only thing is that from bumping the chairs into the table when being pushed in created small chips of paint to come off at the point of contact. I would highly recommend a clear plastic/vinyl table cloth so you can see the beauty but keep stratches and dents from being created. We chose Ash as the wood. Other than that....I don't think any other brand would have held up as well. Love the table, love the chairs. Oh, we also added drawers on each side of the table. Great for holding napkins and other table needs.

We almost bought a set by Canadel because of their guarantee as well but it was so expensive (over twice what I ended up paying for the table I actually went with) The furniture store we worked with (Darvin in Orland Park) told us about another company called Intercon furniture that allows for customization of styles, wood colors, etc. but for a fraction of the cost of Canadel! Intercon coated the top of the table with a catalyzed varnish finish. This allows it to remain stain free/water resistant as well. We've had our table for a year and we love it! It has stood up to my 2.5 year old who eats at it daily and it still looks great! The whole thing cost us $1000 and included a nice size round pedestal leg table and 4 chairs (2 are arm chairs). I got to design it myself, just like Canadel. Might be a company to keep in mind if you are looking for a quality product that is cheaper.

We absolutely fell in love with the birch Canadel table that we purchased two years ago. We took immaculate care of it including applying expensive wood oil daily after dinner. We were quite surprised at how easily it scratched as though the finish was not hard enough. One year after purchase, the finish on the table top began to crack and peel. We wrote to the store who said that the finish had a lifetime warranty and they contacted the company. The company refused to accept any responsibility and suggests that we used harsh cleaning products. Although the table design is beautiful, we will never purchase another Canadel product. For the price, we could have purchased so many other better made tables.
