iPhone Vs. Blackberry

I need to upgrade my phone. I am considering an iPhone and the Blackberry Pearl. I haven't looked yet at the Blackberry Storm or Blackberry Bold. I am under the impression that with the iPhone, you cannot voice dial, and you cannot take video. If you have used any of these phones, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks to all.

What can I do next?

Hi K.. I have an iPhone and it is my favorite phone I've ever had! I seriously would be lost without it!! It doesn't record video, but that doesn't bother me. It does however have an app that you can download so you can do a voicedial. I've never had a blackberry, but did date a guy who had one and I got him to switch to an iPhone and now he won't have any other phone than the iPhone! The cool thing about this phone is there is an app you can download to your phone for almost anything you want! Hope this helps :)

If you already have service with ATT, which is the only carrier that carries the iPhone, then looking at the iPhone is an opportunity... if on the other hand your contract is coming to an end and you are open to ALL carriers, I recommend you go with Sprint and wait a bit until they come out with the Palm PRE. It is expected to be the "iPhone-killer"... I have seen the demos on www.palm.com it is worth taking a look... I can't wait for it to come out and get one myself!

I don't have either but my husband has had an I-Phone since it came out and LOVES it!
I'm not sure about video which isn't important to him but I know for a fact he can take pics. Beyond the text and ability to get and send emails he can do anything "online" he could do with a computer. Plus for our family who is very music and IPOD oriented it's nice he can use the same chargers we have all over the house! :) I don't know much about Blackberry's except they call them "crackberries" for a reason, people I know are always texting and on email.

DEFINITELY go with the blackberry! i recommend the bold because the keyboard is much more finger-friendly and the camera is higher quality. the iphone does NOT have picture mail or video capability. also the iphone is VERY slick, therefore dropping easier and finding covers for it is not only difficult but they are expensive and honestly i think unattractive and tacky looking. the benefits to the iphone of course are the numerous applications available through itunes (many are free or just a couple dollars) and the quality or the pictures taken with the camera on the iphone cannot be beat! Hope this helps once u know what your main features need to be. :)

I haven't used either, but for my daughter's birthday/Christmas present I told her I would get her a new phone. She's 22. She picked the Blackberry Bold. She said the touch screen phones her friends have, have worn out looking, scratched looking screens after awhile. She picked the Blackberry Bold because you use a scroll ball and click, you're not touching the screen. She loves hers and I love that I can just send emails (no minutes/fees) and she can check her email on her phone.

I've had an iPhone since May and love it (after having a couple of Palm Pilot PDAs, a Sony Clie and a Palm Treo).

Here's the best thing about iPhone: an app called MobileMe.

My husband has an iPhone also. We can sync our calendar functions. When I add something to my calendar it is automatically added to his when he looks at it. No more wondering, where will he be that night of a parent meeting at school, or other kids' activities. I see what's on his calendar and he sees what's on mine. We've gotten over the fact that we have to "overlook" stuff that doesn't apply to one of us, but we no longer have to shuffle between our own individual calendars on paper or electronic - it's all on one (with two separate iPhones) and it's fantastic for two very busy parents and four kids' schedules to keep up with!

I have an iPhone and have been using it for about the past year. I LOVE IT. I am also a lifelong Apple computer user so I have been waiting for a phone that syncs well with Apple computers. I do not have video capability on my iPhone, but there are a ton of Apps out there right now, so Video might be one of those Apps. I also don't do voice dialing, but I have favorites programmed in so it is one touch dialing. If you have concerns and specific questions, go to an Apple store, not an AT&T store. The people at the Apple store are super knowledgeable and can answer all of your questions ahead of time without the sales push! There is an Apple store at West County mall and the Galleria.

Your understanding of the iPhone limitations is correct - plus, you're limited to one service provider. You can get a BB from several major service providers. While most people with BBs LOVE them, the Pearl is an exception - people have had lots of problems with them being glitchy and things breaking/stopping working. So, if you can, I'd look at any BBs OTHER THAN the Pearl.

Hi K.. I just got the Blackberry Pearl and the first two weeks I hated it so much that I even went as far and going back to the store to exchange it. But now, a couple of weeks later, I am finally getting the hang of it and love the fact that I can email on it and it's got a great camera. The only things I don't like is that there seems to be more background noise than I am used to and the keys are kind of small so I really have to pay attention when I am calling someone. It is really a small computer for your purse but I think once my contract is up--two long years--I will just go back to the simplest one I can find. I think I am just getting too old for all of this technology when I just want to be able to use the phone. Hey, I am really starting to miss payphones!!
Good luck with your decision!

I just got the Blackberry Pearl from Alltel. I love it. It's takes a bit to get used to, especially if you're coming from a plain phone. The woman that helped me has one, too, and her advice was don't hate it after two days. Give it a week to get used to. Sure enough, on day 2, I was annoyed and ready to bring it back, at least for help. Then I messed around more and figured stuff out. Now I love it.

I have the iPhone and LOVE it. No, it doesn't have voice dial or video, but, it has so much more. It has a great interface with great colors and is easy to use. Besides all the amazing applications you can add (games, education, sports, whatever) it has the iPod, the internet and email readily available. Something I use all the time is the GPS. You click on the icon, click on a button and it immediately finds where you are . . you can type in "post office" and it will find all the post offices in the area . . . it gives you the address, driving directions and phone number. The camera on the phone does not have flash . . but it is a great camera. It does a wonderful job.

If you use a Mac, it is a must-have. If you use iTunes already, it would be easy for you to put all your contacts, photos, music etc, the minute you buy it. I guess it just depends on HOW you will use it. As you can tell, I am a fan. Good luck : )

I am a long time Blackberry user, and I love the technology. I will say that Blackberry's are more business phones so it doesn't have all the apps that the I-phone and G1, but they do have voice dial and video. I recently got the Blackberry Storm and it is absolutely wonderful. I think the one thing that makes it a step above the rest when it comes to touch-screen phones is the touch and click technology. So when you go to select something you touch on it to highlight and and then mash the screen to enter your selection. Very, very cool!
