My highschool daughter has to come up with an invention for class? Do you have any suggestions on what she could invent.
Thankyou in advance.

What can I do next?

Just think of something that will make a task, or chore at your house easier.

I had to do this in college for my marketing class. Tell her to pay attention to literally everything she does for 2 days. Every time she does something, she should think about whether there would be an easier way to do it or something that could help do it. Like those toothpaste dispensers that are supposed to help keep toothpaste from getting all over. We do so many things without thinking about them, it is automatic and there are many things that could be improved. This was the suggestion from my marketing instructor. You tend to get a mind block when someone throws something like that at you. My project was interchangeable feet for infant and toddler pjs so you could remove and then snap on a longer set since kids outgrow the pjs before they are worn out.

The best and easiest things are the ones that you catch yourself saying, "I wish they had a _____ to do _____. Pick something in her life that could be made easier by having a specific tool, and then "invent" that tool. Another thing in this day and age might be a new smart phone ap that no one has come up with.
Good luck and most of all have fun with it! A couple of years ago I worked with a student on a similar project and the other day I saw his exact idea on a new infomercial. Kids are smart and their creativity is endless!

I teach dance & aerobics and have often thought how great it would be to have a louder clap to catch the attention of my students. She could build something that you put in your palm that would amplify your clapping. Perhaps she could take one of those little dollar store microphones that echo and pull it apart to try and create it. My husband is very invention-minded and I told him this idea and he thought it was lame. But, I know it would seriously make my job easier and I can just picture people at sporting events clapping obnoxiously with this new invention.

I hear all the time how hard it is to open medication bottles and things like cough syrup. She should create something that can be put on the top of bottles to open the child safety latches for elderly people with arthritis.

I've always envisioned a car that when driving you could press a button and it extends upward on long stillts with wheels so that you could drive above cars when in heavy traffic (sorry, too much Jetsons and Flintstones as a kid)

She could try designing a urinal for toddlers to avoid them peeing on the toilet seat

A special bracelet that she can program to alert students what assignments are due and when.
