So What Happened?

Oh, no, it's not direct deposit - it's an online bank account - http://home.ingdirect.com/

Hi! Love, love, love ING. We started with savings accounts ten or so years a go and got a checking account soon after they offered them I have NO cons to offer. We have never had a problem. The one time our card was compromised (by Restaurant Depot) they sent us a new card and protected our account before we even knew we had a problem. Our other card did nothing even though they had been notified by RD until we told them the card had been compromised and used. The absolute best part is everyone that answers the phone is polite and helpful! ALWAYS!!! Did I say they have been trouble free?? Finding an ATM is wonderfully easy. Not paying fees is great. Oh, and the overdraft fee free thing is a lifesaver. Give it a try and you will soon be saying goodbye to your regular, money grabbing bank!

We've had an ING Savings account for a couple years and have a certain percentage of our income automatically transferred into the account every month. It yields a better percentage than typical savings accounts at our regular bank, and I like that it is out of sight, out of mind so we don't touch the money. In an emergency we could have access to the money within 4 days, but I like that it takes some effort and time so we really have to think about it. If you're going to open a checking account there too then it might be easier to spend the savings. We did open accounts for our kids that are linked to ours. They give us money they want to save and we transfer that amount from our checking into their individual savings (they were 4 and 6 when we opened them and they put some of their birthday money, etc, in there). So far we have had nothing to complain about. It's easy to use.

Do you mean Direct Deposit? Love it. Money is available right away. No need to get yourself to a bank. Now if ING is something else, sorry don't understand.
