Hello Ladies,
I was wondering if anyone could give me feedback on their experience with Mirena IUD. My husband and I want a long term birth control but I know their are always side effects and risks with any birth control. Thanks for any info that you can provide.

What can I do next?

I had mine put in about 4 months ago and aside from a little cramping when the Dr. put it in and spotting on and off for a month or so, there haven't been any side effects. I'm not regular yet, but my "period" if I can call it that, is very light and brief. Best of all, I don't have to remember to take or use anything! Yea!

I've had mine for about a year and it seems fine. My period has been very light, if I have it at all. Most of the time I don't. My sister also has it and likes it. My SIL though had hers removed because she was losing hair and thought it was connected, who knows?

It was a little crampy getting it in, but about the same as a PAP.

Hey there. I am finally regualar! I had mine placed as soon as I could after I had my son (2 in Mar). I am just recently regular. I love that I don't have to think about anything, but the major factor was that I was nursing still at the time and this was one of the few that was acceptable to use. Being that I was still nursing, I hadn't started my peroid yet after having my son and the procedure caused me to start ( which I didn't mind) I was pretty irregular for a while and I would "bleed" for sometimes two weeks. It was never heavy (or even normal flow for that matter) just that annoying lite stuff that's usually at the end of a period. And it really does pay for itself considering you won't have to think about it for up to five years. Overall, I am pleased with it and would do it again. Good luck :)

I have had my mirena IUD for about a year now. I got it put in about 2 years after I had my son. It was not painful going in as some people have said. As far as side effects, I haven't noticed any negative ones. On the positive side my period is extremely light and short now. I love it.
