I posted about this a couple months ago, but didn't get many responses. I've read all about it, so I know what the whole thing entails. I just want to know if anyone has had any experience with IPT/EC or knows anyone who has.

What can I do next?

There is actually a great group on yahoo groups about EC. There are many very supportive people there. You might want to check it out!

The nervous system for any and all infanrts/childrens is not fully connected until the child is about 3-4 years old...the last connections to be made are the annal region to the brain...so in essence you are training yourself to hold the child(who can't feel the trigger response of a bowel movement) over a toliet and sometimes he'll go...in which you say "yes he/she did it...and you will forget the 100 times you held them over the toliet and nothing happened.

Please do not put THIS much pressure upon yourself and your child...I have 4 children...take my word for it they do potty train and they grow up too fast to be this "annal" about anything!!!! Just enjoy who this child will be and remember "this too shall pass"
Good Luck!

I've read about it a lil and it just seems so time consuming. But I haven't exactly tried it, although I have a 9 mth old son and gave him a bat the other day and he started acting like he was gonna have a bm so I picked him up and held him over the toilet and stopped trying. We did this twice when I finally just got him out of the bath and put a diaper on him where of course he went. My point is all babies are different and if your gonna be home all the time and have the time for it I'd try it but don't let it get u down if it doesn't work. Good luck with whatever u choose.

I just think that a child under about 2 most of the time has very little control over that. Also if you try to do an infant they can't even tell you let alone even get themself to the potty or even hold themselves up!!! I just think it is totally extreme whoever thought of this!!! I don't mean to sound so rude, but it just seems so far-fetched!!! Good luck in whatever you choose!!!

I have read that some dr.s feel it prevents children from haveing that sence of accompishment they get from learning to potty train at the normal age. If you are consirned about the price or cemicals in diapers switch to cloth. They cost a bit more to start off with but are cheaper in the long run and come in so many cute patterns and styles.

i saw something on tv on infant potty training and it looked rediculous. you basically have to watch every move your baby makes and hold him/her 24/7 with a potty seat within arms length...who has time for that?!?! jsut enjoy your baby while he/she is a baby and worry about potty training w later on. he or she will learn to use the potty when he or she is good and ready.

In my opinion, don't worry about potty training just yet. You'll have your hands full just having an infant let alone trying to figure out when she has to go potty without her being able to tell you. However, I know that there are plenty of people out there that have had success with it and only have their babies have "accidents" once and a while. I've read that most of them use diapers for long car rides or when they'll be out in public for a long time. It's hard to get to the bathroom in a hurry during holiday time at the mall and a little baby isn't going to wait on a line. If you're really interested in it, I know there's some books on it and barnes and noble. Good luck! And congrats on the soon to be born baby girl!
