Inexpensive Winter Activities for 2 Year Old and Mom

You are right down the road from me! I live in Hebron. My son is 18 months, and we don't get out too much either. There is a new toy store in Colchester where Eblen's used to be called Hide and Seek. They have a HUGE play area and they charge 5 dollars an hour for your kids to run around and socialize. It's mostly young kids as far as i know (1-3). My son and i also go to the mall and walk around. Buckland Hills has a Carousel that is i think 1 dollar per ride? Also the pet store is a big hit with my son. We can spend over an hour there just looking and learning about all the animals... and it's free. Lets see what else... The Great Escape in Glastonbury is pretty cheap for children under 3, and it is also huge! I went with my son a couple months ago, but he was a little over stimulated. I think he was a bit young for it. Your daughter is older and would probably love it! McDonald's Play Place is always fun and cheap. Another place my son loves believe it or not is the Bob's Furniture store in Manchester. He loves the Coy pond, free candy and mini golf course.

Hi there! I live in Tolland. My little one is 20 months old. At our local elementary school they have play group/learning classes. They are great for socializing. The fee is very reasonable. Something like $15 for 10 weeks. Also our town has "scamper tot" classes for different age ranges. They too are very reasonably priced. Moms group/playgroups are also a good way for your child to socialize and for you to speak with other adults during the day. Good luck. Think spring.

I'm not sure where you live, but in CT, there are a few museums and attractions for children. If you check with your local library, they might have museum passes that you could check out. This would minimize the cost of buying tickets. I've taken my son to the local mall, where they have an indoor play/ climb area. When we visit the mall, we do one thing for me,(like visit one of my stores,) and then I take him to the play area. Also, my local mall has a merry go round. We've gotten an inexpensive lunch in the food court, and I've taken him on the merry go round. Check on line for the upcoming events at the expo and CT convention center. Last year, I took my son to the Flower Show and then later, I took him to the home show. He loved looking at all the people, displays, and helped hold the free brochures.

Believe me..I have the feeling of cabin fever all the time.
