I just finished "The Bloodletter's Daughter." It's historical fiction, light romance, a couple of insane nobles....I really enjoyed it.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good semi romance that is based in times of nobles? For some reason these really catch my attension.
ETA - I mean by semi romance as in it has romance but that is not what the story is about. Romance are not bad either though.

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. Great read.
How about books by Phillipa Gregory.
Boleyn Inheritance, the other Boleyn Girl. They're both P. Gregory's
Kudos to another book lover! I read so much as a child and teen, but now I am addicted to dvds and cannot seem to stop to read. BTW---I did get rid of the tv now while I am living away from home.
I have to second The Pillars of the Earth! this is the best book of all time in my opinion. The sequal, At World's End is also really good. Actually it is fantastic, it just isn't as good as the first one, but its like comparing Godiva chocolates to Godiva truffles. Both are amazing, truffles are just always that much better.
I also have to recommend Jude Deveroux. Her books are romance, but I read them because they are so funny and I love to laugh.
lady of hay and kingdom of shadows both by barbara erskine. couldn't put them down
Check out eharlequin.com.
Katie MacAlister is a fun read.
She has the Nobles series: Noble Intentions, Noble Destiny, & The Trouble with Harry. Haven't read any of these.
But I have read some of her others:
the contemporaries: Blow Me Down, Hard Day's Knight, The Corset Diaries, & Men in Kilts.
Steamed....which is steampunk in genre.
& quite a few of her paranormal/Dark Ones series....
Gee, didn't realize I'd read so many of her books! They're pretty quick, easy reads....& I always, always laugh my way thru her works. She's just fun.
What is a semi-romance?
I'm gonna go ahead and recommend the Dark Hunter series. Not strictly historical, but has historical moments.
lol i'm having a blonde moment I could figure out the semi romance but not the nobles. do you mean european kings??
Lauren Willig has a series call the Pink Carnation. it is set in the time of the french revolution think Scarlet Pimpernell ( which is actually and awesome book too) but it's a girl spy and her friends and there are bumbling romantic interests but not bodice heaving sort of stuff. there is also a flash to modern times which is less interesting but tolerable.
I could call it a medium weight book, no heavy themes about morality, but also not a Janet Evanovich or snookie stackhouse. i have found it funny and have caught myself laughing out loud at parts, and I like mystery of the spy part alot.
I'm late responding, but I highly recommend "Forever Amber" by Kathleen Winsor.
