I have the Craftsman vac. It has excellent suction, a long lasting battery, and it uses the same battery as my husband's drill, so I didn't have to buy a seperate charger.

Good afternoon mommies. I am in need of a new hand vacuum. I think my old Dustbuster is nearing the end. I'm looking for recommendations so if anyone has a hand vacuum they couldn't live without OR one that they wish they could chuck into the Grand Canyon I'd appreciate hearing about it. I'm looking for one that holds a charge well and has great suction. I use mine mainly for sucking up crumbs, fuzz balls and litter. Thanks in advance for sharing your stories.

Stay away from Dirt Devils, they are incredibly LOUD. We just have the Black & Decker DustBusters (2 - 1 upstairs, 1 downstairs) as well, and the battery seems to hold less and less charge over time. In order to get some power we bought a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser ($30 at Target). We have 2 cats and it does wonders for our carpeted stairs, but for quick clean ups I still grab the DustBuster since they are cordless. The recommended Dyson seems to be about $299, which I cannot make myself pay even for a great handheld. I would rather buy a new dustbuster every year at that rate! I did try some kind of generic electric broom at Walmart for about $35 and it had zero suction. I will read the responses you get with interest :)
We just bought the new Dyson DC35 multi-floor and LOVE it. The thing that is so nice is that it is a poweful hand-held, but also has the floor-length wand so it's like a convertible vacuum. And the floor attachment has the ball on it so it's easy to use on tight spaces.
Oh! I saw one from Dyson earlier this year that's on my Christmas list.
Check it out!
