If it is anything like my pain - it was gall stones. They found mine by an ultrasound. I thought it was prelabor pain, and I got hot and nauseated. But it got worse after I had my son. They took it out fast and now no pain.
Can anyone make recommendation for a gastroenterologist in the area that is easy and quick to get an appt with. I live in Coppell, so ideally I would to see someone close by, but I would be willing to travel assuming someone could see me right away. I have had a very painful stomach ache for last 4-5 days now and can't live without drinking pepto to get through the day, so I think I need to see a doc right away. Thanks in advance,
K.

A general practitioner is probably going to get you in quicker than a specialist. If not, I'd go to the ER. You're likely to be sent to the hospital anyway for labs/ultrasound/x-rays. Good luck!
Dr. Katrina Bassel is someone I would highly recommend, but I don't know how easily you can get in with her. Let her know you need to see her on an emergency basis. She is in Plano. Check to see if she is on your plan.
Good luck & God Bless!
well, if you've got insurance...the quickest way is to go to the ER...
My doc is GREAT. Dr. Lacey in Grapevine ###-###-####. He was wonderful for my mother and I.
Hi K.,
I live in Coppell also, and my GI doctor is at Presby Plano.
Dr. Grace Vanesko-Texas Digestive Disease
She is very kind and nice and easy to talk to. I highly recommend her. With our PPO, I didn't need a referral, but I think they accept a wide range of insurance plans.
Good Luck!

Hi K.,
This could be serious.
I do not know a gastreinterologist here, but you may have
IBS. I take something over the counter that works wonders, and it is completely safe - regardless of what your diagnosis ends up like. The stuff is called Equalactin, and if you take a couple of the chewable tablets with a glass of water, it will help your digestion, whichever way it needs to go for you to be more comfortable. I even have adhesions, and this is safe for me. It may help until you can get in to see a Dr. If you have severe pain, it may be a blockage, and a trip to the ER would not be ridiculous. They can X-ray and/or ultrasound, and make sure that it is nothing lethal, and they will recommend a good Dr. If you decide to do this, the Baylor in Grapevine has an excellent ER - I had to take my daughter there for the 3rd time this past weekend for a diabetes problem.
Take care, and err on the side of caution!

PS You can usually get Equalactin at Walgreens or CVS.
Dr. Goldschmidt at Plano Medical Center
Dr. Donachie at Trinity Medical Center
Don't forget some insurances require a referral first. Also, be careful with the Pepto. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
