Hi Ladies,
I have been on the mini pill (Jolivette) for almost a month and I can't seem to stop breakthrough bleeding. My daughter is 9 weeks old and I started taking the pill when she was 6 weeks old. I'm really getting very frustrated with the whole situation.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, is there anything I can do about it? Should I go and see the Doc?
I visited my OB yesterday and he told me that I can take the regular birth control pill eventhough I'm exclusively BF. He said that it shouldn't really effect my milk suppy since it's already been established.
If it does, all I have to do is stop and we'll try something else. As of right now, I've stopped bleeding so I'll keep on taking the MP, and if it happens again, I'll try the regular pill. Thanks agin everyone!
Sounds like mini pill is not strong enough for you. But I am not a doctor. I suggest you to contact your OBGYN about it.
I have not used that one but, I know that when I got my IUD bleeding was normal from 3-6 weeks so, maybe wait a bit longer .

I would talk to your doc. Sometimes it takes a while to adjust & sometimes you need a pill with either higher estrogen levels or higher progesterone.
I'm very prone to breakthrough bleeding and have it a LOT on the pill. Each time I tell my obgyn, she offers to give me a script for a different pill because she says that often takes care of it. So, yes, call him/her because a new one might be what you need. They do like to know if you're having breakthrough bleeding anyway so they can make sure it's pill-related.
I'm on Jolivette as well and I have found that it is very sensitive to taking it at the SAME time every day. If I miss by even an hour or two, I start bleeding. Also, it took about 6 weeks for my body to regulate to the pill and for the bleeding to stop. It still happens every now and then and my baby is 10 months old today. Very frustrating, but since I am nursing, it was one of the only ones I could use. I think you should give it at least one full cycle of pills and then see how it goes. I also agree with another poster that said you may still have some bleeding from having the baby. That takes a long time to stop also. Give it another month and then see the doctor if you're still having issues. Good luck!
Have you ever stopped bleeding since your daughter was born? With my last baby, I was still bleeding quite a bit when I went to my follow-up. The midwife I saw suggested I do a regimen of ibuprofen: take 3 ibuprofen, 3 times a day, for 3 days. The nurse suggested the same thing a year later when I had a period that lasted almost 3 weeks. It worked both times.
The healthy natural route - Red rasberries are a womans friend. Herbal teas, food and iced teas are great with red rasberries to balance out problems, many problems. Google-red rasberries and check at the Whole Foods/Sun Harvest or the HEB stores. The tea brands are great(Medicinal, etc). Lots in the library too! Incorporate into your regime over the long run.... Really good and you will notice other improvements....
