It's always a good idea to see your doctor but you're right about at the age where peri menopause can start up.
It just means things will gradually get less predictable over the years (it lasted more than 10 years for me) until you have no period for a year - and then you are officially in menopause.
You can still get pregnant while in peri menopause so some birth control is a good idea unless you want to grow your family a little larger.
Please go see your doctor! You are 44, so it's possible you are menopausal or peri-menopasal.
What does your Dr say?
It is good you made an appointment. I have had this happen before. I ended up wuth a cyst inn my overy and then happened again a few years later I ended up having a hysterectomy almost 4 years, ago. But u can't tolerate birth control. So that may be an option
Welcome to mamapedia, S..
You need to see your doctor.
You've been having sex, we don't know if it's unprotected, and your body is doing things that it doesn't normally do.
Go to your doctor and get a blood test and get examined.
Mine has gotten more unpredictable over the years and I've had what you describe as have my friends. My understanding (although I am glad you are checking this with your doctor) is that it's related to perimenopause. I have talked to my doctor about it and she was not concerned. I just keep track of it. I don't have pain either.
I have two friends who went on an IUD to regulate things (and it almost eliminates things) - they will discuss options with you if it becomes a problem. I don't think in most cases it does - but good to rule out other concerns.
It happened to me. I was having periods every 2 weeks lasting 7 days at a time. I was CONSTANTLY on my period. went to the doctor - turned out I had "abnormal cells" that would have turned to cancer. I had an option of "freezing" the cells which would eventually wear off (albeit, not for a number of years) or hysterectomy which would have had to be done at some point in the future. I opted for the hysterectomy and have NEVER regretted it! Go to the doctor!
If you're having so many, they probably aren't all periods. I'm not sure the sex has anything to do with it, but the fact that you're not feeling pain is a good thing. It's also good that you have keep a record of these dates. Take that list to the doctor's appointment - it's easy to forget details when you get into the office!
Weird stuff happens in our 40s and you could be at the beginning of menopause (which can take years), so you may be having some very normal - but annoying - symptoms of that. You could still be fertile, so I hope you are using something for contraception. You say you've "never been on birth control" but perhaps you just mean the birth control pill. Using "fertile times" for contraception doesn't work well anyway, but it's totally useless for women with irregular cycles and disruptions in ovulation, which happen especially when we approach menopause. So, assume you are fertile until you have had no period for 1 year. Get a pelvic exam, and talk to your doctor about maybe having hormone levels checked. If you're not using any reliable form of contraception, rule out pregnancy and then talk to the doctor about a method that works for your body, your medical history and your lifestyle.
not to me because during my fertile years i saw to my own body by taking sensible birth control precautions.
sounds like peri-menopause, but could be something far more sinister.
or nothing at all.
curious- if it HAD happened to me would that mean it must perforce be the same reason it's happening to you? how does validation by a total stranger trump going to see someone with knowledge, experience and a medical degree?

I'd have this checked out....When I was 43-ish, I went thru something similar. Turned out to be hemorrhagic fibroids (harmless, yet annoying) and my endometriosis...a hysterectomy took care of both.....Also, in my late 20's I'd havea couple of periods a month due to Seldane,n anti-histemine with all sort crazy side effects and has since been taken off the market (and my bottle went into the trashlong before then).
