Ideas for Showing Gratitude

I broke my ankle this week and am pretty immobilized! Crutches, boot, pain -- the whole 9 yards. It's coming at a time when my husband is super busy at work and it means I'm dropping the ball for my family. I'm doing as much as I can, and my husband is doing as much as he can, but I am super touched that my friends have absolutely dropped everything to come and help me! Driving me to the dr. and the store, bringing me meals, chocolates, crossword books, calling to check on me. I feel truly blessed by their generosity and thoughtfulness. A card won't be enough to thank them, but I'm not terribly mobile, so there aren't too many things I can do for people yet, and I don't want to wait the two months it'll take to be back on my feet to do something special. So, creative ideas for thanking everyone?

What can I do next?

For now I would think a fun ecard would be nice. One that kind of plays a little skit saying thank you. They know you can't go shopping etc so I do think a card is enough for now. Then when you're all better I'd try to make them dinner. Either one big party or a few people over at a time.

I always help friends out, all I ever expect is a thank you. I also kind of hope they will help me out if I am in a pickle as well.

You have some good ideas already.

After you get back on your feet, (pun intended), do for them what you do best. If you grow roses or other flowers, give them flowers. If you are a good cook, cook or bake something for them. Make it and surprise them.

Good luck to you and yours. Get well soon.

You could get a snapshot of them taken with you (can one of your kids take the picture successfully?) Then put a copy in with your card.

I'm sorry this happened. Consider renting a wheelchair. That will help you a lot. It sure did help me when I tore ligament and tendons in my ankle years ago.

I like to brag about people on facebook as an extra "thank you". Sounds silly, perhaps, but people love being "called out" on their awesomeness. It is like a thank you card times ten.

I would also just make sure you return the favor if they are ever in need. Moreover, whenever I feel someone has gone out of their way for me, I just write a special card and get them a little gift of true appreciation, meaning one that was thoughtful. If I know one likes a particular type of candy or a particular scentsy bar, I will get that and a nice card to give to them.

Get well soon! I would bring you food if I was near! And I wouldn't even expect you to brag about me on facebook! =)
