Hi All,

Tomorrow is my husband's and my anniversary. I'm looking for some creative (and easy) ways to celebrate. We have regular Sat activities for the kids tomorrow, so we don't have a lot of time to work with. And we don't have a babysitter, so I'm looking for something we can do with the kids. I'm hoping someone has some creative ideas for me for little ways to make the day more special. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I will definitely use some of them going forward. We are going to go to a movie and a walk in the woods. My hubby surprised me with chocolate covered strawberries like we had on our wedding night. I think we will try to have a romantic night out at a fondue place sometime soon when we aren't so busy and can arrange childcare.

Susan - we are hoping to go to the hibachi grill place soon! Today is a no go b/c we are celebrating my nephew's birthday at dinner time. Love the suggestion though!

8kidsdad - this is our 11th anniversary.

Mickey - the strawberries were a great tie to our wedding night!

Julie - Happy anniversary to you too!

If its possible, you could go back and see the place where you were married. My kids enjoyed it once.

My answer is far from the norm but I'll tell you anyway LOL
Our wedding anniversary falls right at the same time as the San Diego Comic Book Convention, give or take a few days or so. It was one of the first real dates my husband took me to when we were dating and the only year we have missed since that first date was for our honeymoon which was at the same time as the con that year. We now take our kids each and every year as well.
Find something special that you all can do together. Maybe take them to somewhere that you had one of your first dates. My kids love hearing stories of how we met and the things we did together before we had them. They love seeing old photos as well. I've been removing all our old photos from those old magnetic albums so they've been looking at them a lot recently and just love it.

I would book a hotel (suite) someplace close to home with a pool and waterslide and make it a mini family vacation. Check in after Saturday activities, go for a nice dinner, spend the evening playing in the pool, and have some private time after the kids go to bed. Get room service for breakfast, or go out for a nice Sunday brunch.

We are celebrating ours tomorrow too!

My mom offered to take the kids, but hubby wants to hang out with them. He wants to do a movie and dinner. We shall see. Nothing too exciting, I'm afraid.

My kids always enjoyed going to a hibachi grill restaurant and watching them cook dinner in front of us. Or maybe do a fondue type desert place. Happy Anniversary. I also like the idea of having a special dinner at home with china and linens and wine/grapejuice.

It would be easier to advise you if I knew more about you. Filling in your profile can't hurt, especially since you told us in your questions that you are married and have two daughters. One is 5 and the other is 8.

My wife and I love celebrating our anniversaries.

You can go swimming in one of the many lakes or streams if NH is warm enough by now. Or you could go fishing. Take the kids where they can see some of the wonders of your state, like your covered bridges or down to the ocean where you could enjoy lobster a lot less expensively than we can out here in CA. I know you said you don't like seafood, but I know several people that say they don't like sea food, but will eat lobster.

If you go on the internet to Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, you can see what restaurants they have reviewed in NH or ME or even MA. I've eaten in several of the restaurants they have reviewed and have always found them to be a wonderful place to eat.

You are so close to so many historical things from America's history, you can visit a historical site and tell the kids all about it, especially if you have done your genealogy and can tell them that their 10th great Grandfather was there.

I hope you have a wonderful time. BTW, what anniversary is this for you?

Good luck to you and yours.

Great ideas! We love to watch our wedding video, the kids love to see us so young and always ask "where are we?"

On the same thought as the first response....

If appropriate, could you re-enact your first date and end it where you were married?

Our first date was dinner and then to a beautiful park where we talked for hours (and even saw two possums fighting and fall into the creek, lol). And we were married in a pretty park about 20 miles from that place. I'd love to take our son on our first date all over again!

Whatever you decide to do, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

I like the hotel suite with a pool. eVeryone will have fun swimming then the kids can stay in the "bedroom" of the suite for sleeping and you can have a romantic evening in the "living room part.

I like the idea of going to dinner at the place you had your first date.
You could all go to that.

Tie something into your day from your wedding.

Vist the place you got married if it's close by. Walk the grounds. Kind of
nice to revisit the memory.

Or have a nice dinner home. Really set the table w/nice dishes, cloth
napkins, candles, flowers, wine for you both, apple juice in nice glasses
for the kids.

Go to a store & pick up a present for your household to enjoy.

Later that night sit down to a family movie (DVD) to watch, popcorn, Milk Duds etc.
