So What Happened?

Yesterday, I had left school at 2pm to get on the bus to go to a interview. I had made to the second bus. I didn't ask questions to get there and got lost. my pass had expired and I had to find a way to get home. I was able to get on the bus to take me home with a student letter. I had went home, waited for my mom to open the door outside, and I had headache fell asleep outside in front of my door. My mother punishment me because I was suppose to go to my doctor's appointment at 4pm, and I wasn't suppose to go to the interview. I had forgot about the appointment because I thought it was in the morning. I'm seventeen years old. I had to see my doctor at Kennedy Krieger to get prescription for my medicine. The interview was for a summer job. I didn't know my mother was going to be late getting home. I had gotten my laptop taking away, no music, and can't go to my sister's house this weekend. I have no cellphone.

Did you call her while you were lost and tell her you could miss the dr.'s appt? Or did you call the doctor's office? This is what people who want to be responsible for their own lives do, they report to those who need reporting to.
Take this as a lesson learned and don't do it again, call next time.

Why do you need to write a letter to your mother? You don't say what your punishment is, but in all actuality if you forgot an important doctor's appointment and she now needs to reschedule it (not always easy), she's upset with you. If you need a medication refill, that is essential and she's probably hoping that you learn how important it is to keep track of your appointments.

Is this an apology letter? Is this part of your punishment? Are you a parent and that's why you are on this site? If you aren't a parent, this isn't really an appropriate site for you to join.

If it's an apology letter, try something like:

Dear Mom,

I am sorry for missing my doctor's appointment yesterday. I had the dates confused and was really excited about my interview. I missed my interview because I didn't ask the right questions on the bus and know now that if I am unsure, I should ask.

Love,

Sorry, babe, Man what a crappy day!

You're gonna have to TALK to Mom about this stuff. Tell her what you're tellin' us.

Hope the next day is better for you! Don't worry, this too shall pass.

Hey sweetie,

I agree with Krista, talking to your Mom is the better way to handle this - unless she specifically asked you for a letter.

Also, go buy yourself a date book - that way you can write down your appointments and have a visual reminder of where you need to be and when you need to be there. Let your Mom check it weekly and make sure you have everything in it.

Sometimes Doctors charge for a missed visit - if that is the case you may want to offer to reimburse your mother for that expense. Trust me, they can charge up to a full visit fee and since you didn't get treated insurance will not cover it.

I applaud your initiative to get a summer job!!!

Oh, and don't forget to renew your bus pass. LOL

It will be alright - as parents our job is to teach our children responsibility and it sounds like you are on the right path.

Sorry Honey but your request is sort of hard to understand. I need more info to help you. How old are you? What was the interview for and the doc appt for? Why wouldnt your mom open the door for you? Why dont you have a key to your own home?

Not sure why the letter either...
Renew your bus pass, yep, get a calendar to write things down with... ALSO... Do you not have a key to let yourself in?
Since you had your lap top taken away and have no cell phone, yet are able to post on line, You obviously have other ways of getting on a computer... So no pity there... I don't have either of them either... :-) They are not a necessity of life, just an extra...

Talk to your mom...

What do you want to write to your mother that you can't say to her?

You're 17 and will be an adult soon. It's time to start acting responsible. It's good that you're looking for a job, but letting you pass expire, missing a doctor's appt., not having a key to get into your house, this is unacceptable.
