L..
I use and LOVE Bare Minerals makeup. The foundation is great, it evens out my skin tone, and I use it for concealer too (just with a different brush)! It's awesome! I will never go back to liquid foundation, or anything I've tried in the past.
I have always used liquid foundation and it's been fine, but I am starting to get wrinkles around my eyes and mouth and the foundation just makes them look worse. I have an uneven skin tone though, so I don't know if a powder will be good? And my liquid $5 concealer isn't really helping, it just soaks into my wrinkles, lol. Help! What do you use that's amazing?

Another BareMinerals fan.
I do NOT use "naked" it under my eyes, though. I use super cheap covergirl concealer, then the foundation (including under my eyes). I usually just use the foundation, but if I'm going out will add the mineral veil over the top. Without the mineral veil, I just look like I have reeeeeally good skin. I don't. I have super blochy uneven skin unless I'm tan. I live in Seattle. There's just not enough sunlight to tan!
$aving trick: The mineral veil is just the foundation mixed with cornstarch. So I save myself $20 and just tap some foundation into cornstarch in a makeup container. Same stuff for $2.
I love Bare Minerals!
I use Pur Minerals. It's similar to Bare Minerals, but I find it more moisturizing. I used Bare Minerals first, and quite liked it, but I was needing to pat serum over it to add some moisture to my skin. With the Pur Minerals, I don't have to do that, so it's just one less step for me. Either Pur or Bare will do a great job of covering uneven skin, though. My skin is blotchy and red and oily in the t-zone and dry everywhere else and I STILL break out occasionally (for cryin' out loud, I'm 40, when will it END?!) and when I use the Pur Minerals, I have perfect, glowing skin.
I used to use BareMinerals and found Mary Kay's mineral foundation is a better product. I figured out my color with a rep, but have since started ordering off ebay because it's about half the price. I actually put on an SPF 50 about 15 minutes before the powder because none of them seem to have enough sun protection to prevent wrinkles.
Jane Iredale. Think Bare Minerals, but so much better. They make both a loose and pressed powder foundation that are awesome. You should be able to find a retailer on your area in janeiredale.com and they can give you a sample to try.
Bare Minerals, I've been using it for years and will never switch!!!
Change all together and use a Colour Supplement like ones offered by Lush. I have serious rosecea and this does the trick. I use a little highlighter under the eyes to brighten them and a translucent finishing powder to set (not a fan of dewy looks) with extra under the eyes b/c I have dramatic eye make up and I do not want it to run. It is creamier and does not settle like runny foundation and is applied with a foundation brush, looks like an oversized conealer brush. Much better than anything else I have tried and I have tried it ALL from way expensive foundation at department stores to all brands of mineral make up and airbrushing - that is THE BEST but I do not have the funds for one at home just yet.
I like Clinique products, and as my skin has changed I have changed the particular foundation I use. It wouldn't hurt for you to check at the Clinique counter about what would might work for you right now. I have found that I'm not obligated to buy anything in order to get advice.
I had very oily skin for years, and was happy with the makeup I was using. Then I noticed that my skin was just slurping up my foundation and still looking unfinished. My skin was becoming drier, at least in places, and I needed a more moisturizing product. It's just what happens!
TWO WORDS Bare Minerals.
That make-up CHANGED MY LIFE. I have very uneven skin tone, scars and need a LOT of coverage.
Try it and you'll thank me/us later.
Use a lotion and then their primer and you'll look AWESOME. I thought oh hell no, I can't expect a POWDER to cover my hot mess but it does. It's magic in a jar.
You skin will get better and looks BETTER as the day goes on. NO liquid will EVER do that for you, trust me! :)
And YES, you can use corn starch as the mineral veil step. Makes me happy to know someone else (Riley J.) does that too. :)
Another Bare Minerals: )
I have tried Clinique, Bare Minerals, Color Supplement, and Mary Kay. The only thing works for me is the L'Oreal infallible. The color matches my skin tone and cover well.
I use nothing but a good cleanser and night time moisturizer in the daytime.
I clean my skin with a lotion meant for that purpose. I have not a single wrinkle on my face and I am a grandmother.
If you really need a foundation get one meant to cover up skin that is unevenly colored or very freckled. Use moisturizer all the time. Stay out of the sun as it tends to mottle the skin.
Use the moisturizer on you neck as well and you won't have all those neck wrinkles other women have.
I only use Clinique products and have since I was pre-teen. Love them.
I don't use concealer so can't recommend that but if you go to a good Clinique counter, the reps can guide you to what's best for you.
The products are guaranteed and dermatologist recommended.
I use the Repairwear series moisturizers, etc. it's funny when people think I'm early/mid 30's and I'm 49. Granted, I was blessed with good genes, I'm very faithful with my skincare routine, drink lots of water and use sunscreen.
You get what you pay for! Clinique seems pricey but if used properly, lasts a long time
Good luck
Amazing Cosmetics is one of the number one brands for concealer used by celebrity sylists. I am a make-up artist and it is what I use. I know you can get it at Ulta and Sephora.
You probably don't need a full foundation. You could use a light moisturizer, then spot conceal with concealer, then use a mineral powder such as Bare Minerals on top.
I use Sei Bella products; all manufactured without chemicals, very effective, reasonably priced, great results! good luck and Happy New Year!!!
I don't see where anyone mentioned using a primer before applying your foundation or concealer. Put the primer on to fill in your wrinkles and then make-up will go over your skin smoother. Right now I just use it under my eyes and it works pretty well. I use Loreal's primer. Here's more info: http://tinyurl.com/7l5a247
I was having the same problem. I was told by everyone to use a primer to even out the skin tones. I also switched from a liquid to a mineral and I love all of the changes!!! My face is no longer splotchy and the primer also works on fine lines. I'm using a brand called "Cargo" that I buy at Ulta.
I also didnt think that the mineral powder could cover blemishes, but its amazing!
Good Luck!
Bare Minerals! The older you get the more you will appreciate it!!
I just bought Chanel foundation and powder. AMAZING!! Best makeup I have ever used and I have used it all! Worth every penny to me!
I love Avon's primer, it works wonders for evening out skin tone. I used to use Bare Minerals but it made my skin itchy. I've used both Avon minerals and Neutragena minerals and had good success with both - but all the foundations I have look better when I use the primer first.
