I would like to know if anyone can recommend a place to get a "gently used" crib and possibly other items(when needed) for my son. I thought a consignment shop would be a good place to look. Has anyone had a good experience purchasing these types of items or even infant/kids clothing at a resale/consignment shop? Which one(s)? Thanks for any help!

Since now is the time for garage sales you could look at them because you'll find cribs cheaper that way then at a store or on consignment. You could call around local resale shops and see if they have any cribs and how much. Good luck and Congrats

Once Upon a Child in Streamwood is the best I've found. I believe it is on Barrington Road near Sam's Club. Most of my purchases are from there and I take my gently used items there to resell when my kids have outgrown them. Clothes, furniture, toys, etc. at least 50% off retail.
I might try searching craigslist chicago using google or another search engine then go to baby & kids. There are tons of great stuff to buy from other people and most include pictures.
Also, I was just at the Once Upon a Child in West Dundee and they had about 5 cribs in great condition. Another store that is good is in Wheeling called Kiddo Ditto.
Go to craigslist.org and then to Chicago site on right side and then to baby and kids and either search or scroll down the list. Ecellant site, it is parents selling their new, or gentle use things around all chicago land suburbs. Check it you will like that site. Or go to Once Upon A Child in streamwood, it's a good store too, just not always what your looking for there sometimes. I live in Wheeling, and there is no store like that around me. I wish, but I got craigslist.org and it works out perfect for me. Hope tht helps.

Hi, K. ~ I always go to Once Upon a Child. I am not sure if there are any in the Streamwood area, but I do know that there is one in St. Charles, Naperville and Chicago Ridge. They have "gently used" clothing, toys, etc., but they don't have car seats. Hope this helps! L.
There aren't too many good consignment shops around here. If you are looking for a crib I would suggest looking on ebay. We have gotten some great "gently used" things for my daughter there. They have everything even clothes.

I have a crib you can have. My son is a little over 2 years old and is ready to move on to a big boy bed. When my kids were younger we bought many of there things from At Once Upon A Child.
They buy and sell gently used and new children's clothing, toys, furniture, equipment and more.
They have a store in Streamwood, 1000G S. BARRINGTON RD.
However since they are buying all the time, all the store are different. You can go to their website to find more stores, if that one does not have what you are looking for.

I am a mum of 2 boys - a 31/2year old and a 22 month old. I am selling the Crib i bought for my 1st son. It is a Baby Italia Carlisle crib. The crib is in Perfect conditions with not even a scratch on it. It has a drawer on the bottom for some storage. I paid $300 for it but I am asking for $150 O.B.O. I may have a crib with mattress and matching dresser for you to purchase for a low price (have to check with my hubby). I'm pretty sure that the set is made by "Basset" and in good condition. The mattress is like new (never had any accidents seep through), the crib needs glue or a nail or two in one side to keep the side and headboard together (was like that when we bought it), and a small portion on the dresser had a water spill which took off the stain. It really sounds worse than it is and it is a very nice set! Will sell the crib separately. If you'd like to take a look at it, you're more than welcome to come by the house. S. ###-###-####)

It is like the classifieds, but free listings with pictures. I saw a beautiful Natart crib on there that was used for a steal. When you see something you like, just e-mail or call. Most times the prices are quite negotiable, especially if you are willing to pick up quickly.
