I'm sorry that you are going through this. Getting this kind of news in the absence of additional information is so hard. I know someone who went through this. The sonogram tech scared them to death by telling them that their child had a 2 vessel cord and all the other negative things that sometimes go along with that. Then they went home and googled it and got even more scared. Further testing revealed that although there was a 2 vessel cord, the pregnancy was otherwise healthy, and that couple now has a completely healthy 12 year old child.

Your experience might be like my friends - or it might not. But please try not to panic until you talk to the specialist. A 2 vessel cord can indicate other problems, but it doesn't always indicate other problems. Good luck to you.

After my second daughter was born, the doctor told me she had a 2 vessel cord and it could be related to birth defects. My daughter is and has been perfectly healthy. I did not have any ultrasounds so it was never detected until after birth

I think you need to tell your doctor you want to see a perinatologist and find out more.
