I am very sensitive to dyes and fragrances and have to use lotions, soaps, and detergents that are hypoallergenic. I have tried several different shampoos and conditioners, but I haven't been able to find anything that doesn't irritate my scalp. I've tried Dove, Aveda, and more! Any suggestions? I have semi thick and wavy hair that I usually flat iron, so conditioner is a must. Thanks!
I use Sauve Hypoallergenic hair products for kids. It comes in a white bottle with blue labeling. My son has very sensitve skin and we have found this is the best and the cost is just right as well.

My niece has a degree in biology & is searching for ways to live chemical-free. For the past couple of months, she has relied on basic elements for hair care.....& it's working beautifully! Her hair is soft, shiny, & very touchable....which is a wonderful change from years of seeing it fried from flatironing & coloring!
Before getting into the shower, she makes a paste of baking soda & water. She makes sure it's malleable enough to work thru her hair (which is long). She begins at the roots at the crown & works her way out to the ends. She rinses this out, & then does a 2nd rinse with a mixture of water/apple cider vinegar (which is also mixed before the shower). She swears this is the BEST chemical-free, allergen-free product on earth! Oh, & for conditioner, she sparingly treats the ends with a leave-in product.....which she only needs just 1x week!.....that's how healthy her hair is now! & yes, she's still flatironing & using the dryer. We are all amazed at the health of her hair. !

I have found shampoo and conditioner at Sally's beauty supply called "Hemp". Since I have been using it, I FINALLY have peace from the terrible itching.
The smell is a bit mediciney, but it is not objectionable at all, and it leaves my hair clean and healthy looking.
If you don't have a Sally's near you, they are online also.
You'll probably need to visit a health food store for shampoos and conditioners that are fragrance free; there are at least two labels, Earth Science and Jason (which is also free of parabens). These two have proven to be safe for my sensitivities, and I like the result I get.
If you google "fragrance-free shampoo" you'll find other brands as well, some of which you can order on-line. Good luck!
I know that you said you tried Aveda, but did you try the Scalp Beneftis from them. My son has extremely sensitive skin and scalp, and that was the only thing that I could find that worked for him. I have sensitive skin, and I use Rusk Calm. You can get it at Beauty Brands, and I think that Walmart now has it too. They have a conditioner too. Good Luck!

I am a professional cosmetologist and i would recommend an anti-itch hypoallergenic shampoo and conditioner. A couple examples would be scalpicin,head and shoulders, almay...etc you can purchase these items from your local walgreens or cvs. That way if u have any questions there is a professional there that can help you for free! Just to start with just shampoo a small portion of the scalp to see your reaction and see how it goes if you do not like any of them let me know i will do more research for you. I would definitely try these items at least once to see how it works! If you have any medical concerns i would recommend you speak with your local pharmacist prior to use to see what they recommend. I would recommend Arbonne. Their products are all pure, safe, and beneficial. You can get them online (www.arbonne.com) or from a consultant. It is a wonderful company with fantastic product. Try it, even if not from me!)
I haven't tried the conditioner, but the only shampoo my allergy ridden son can use is Burt's Bees.
I use Envia products. I get them online. Dove, Aveda and some of the products like them actually contain toxins and irritants that no one should use.
If you want more information on the Envia products let me know. They are salon quality, cheaper than Wal-mart and non-toxic and safe. They have a full line for all types of hair.
