Friends of ours went online and tried themselves then went to a travel agent. Got a much better deal - hadn't even considered what they were able to offer. That would be my suggestion. I think some agents specialize.
Hi mamas - do you get the best deal on a cruise through the cruise line or a travel site? Hubby has a short vacation and we can drive to Galveston. Trying to do a vacation that doesn't break the bank but does do a major relax/reboot.
Thanks for any tips!

I will say that travel agents really are very useful for this sort of thing. I know that some people feel they are outdated but we use one frequently and she gets us good deals.
Costco has great travel deals, although the airfare usually isn't the greatest, but it seems like in this case you won't need air travel anyway.
Also, go directly to the cruise line website. We have done this 3 times for Disney Cruises and booked them for thousands less than "normal" price. Usually a month or two ahead of time they start discounting rooms to fill up the boat.
I LOVE cruising and so do my kids. Have fun!
I would find a travel agent that specializes in cruises. They usually know where to find deals. They also know what rooms to request for the best experience (not the most expensive, but the best location at any given price), etc.
I have heard that AAA has good deals, if you're a member go to one of their offices and meet with a travel agent. You can then compare that to what you're seeing online.
we price shop online and buy the one we like the best
